Early childhood development is crucial for the personal growth and development of a child. As a representative of Mzuzu District Education Network (DEN), we considered it an honour to witness the presentation and delivery of a ECD petition to the government through Mzuzu City Council/M'mbelwa District Council, an initiative led by the ECD Department of the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia.

Among other issues presented by representatives of both learners and caregivers, are the professionalization of caregivers, putting of caregivers on a government payroll, improving infrastructure in the CBCCs, advocating for more community support towards ECD among others.

We are back at Kasalu Primary School.

We are welcomed by people dressed in smiles all over their faces. This could be one of their best days.

This time, students, teachers and the entire community have been impatiently waiting for us to make official handovers of toilets for female learners and teachers, and a change room for female learners.

This has been the community's dream for girls to stay long at school despite menstrual and hygiene challenges they may go through, perform well in their ecademic activities and realize their dreams. We feel honoured to facilitate the realization of those dreams.

The toilets and change room have been made possible with financial support from Hilden Charitable Fund and in-kind support from the community of Kasalu.

For a female learner, having a conducive learning environment goes beyond good classrooms and desks. It entails having proper sanitary facilities such as toilets and changing rooms, among others.

It's with excitement that we share progress we have registered constructing toilets and a changing room for female learners and teachers at Kasalu Primary School in Euthini Zone, in Mzimba district.

We can't wait to see what the finished product will look like, and the impact it will have on improving learning outcomes for female learners.

We appreciate the good working relationship between our organization and the Area Development Committee of T/A Chindi, the community of Kasalu and mostly our development partner.
