GIVING HOPE THROUGH BLOOD DONATION.

"I used to question why people donated blood.
I never understood it until I was diagnosed with anaemia and needed blood myself.
That’s when I realized that blood donors are heroes 🥺
The blood I received helped save my life and it continues to save many others every day.
So if you can donate blood, please do. Your donation could be the reason someone gets another chance at life ❤️🩸
Let's do it and save lives of others 😊🫂"

Soon after the launch of this activity and the release of the flyer, one of the beneficiaries shared this testimony 🥺.

It may seem simple, but to those whose lives are touched by the help and services we provide, the impact is beyond words. If they had the opportunity to personally thank every blood donor, tears of gratitude would probably flow. Their stories remind us why donating blood matters and why we should continue donating whenever we have the chance.

Let us meet this coming Saturday, 6th June 2026, at the MZUNI Notice Board from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Give Blood. Save Lives!

The Mzuzu University Leo Club held a full-day get-together at the Mzuzu Botanic Garden yesterday, 30 May 2026, from 9am to 5pm. The event brought together members for team building, leadership elections, and an ELLI learning session.

The day began with team-building activities designed to strengthen unity and collaboration among members. Facilitators led interactive games and group tasks aimed at improving communication and trust within the club.

A key highlight was the election of new executive members. Following a transparent voting process, Leo Angie was elected as President, Leo Liberty as Vice President, Leo Chisomo as Treasurer, Leo Lonely as Secretary, and Leo Tonny as Fundraising Director And other club positions. The new team will lead the club for the next term.

Current President Leo Tendai Chinomwe ELLI presided over the elections and the ELLI learning session. Addressing members, She said the gathering “acted as a platform for club growth and proper transition in line with Lions Club International’s path.” She urged the incoming team to uphold service, integrity, and teamwork as they take over leadership.

The ELLI session equipped members with leadership skills aligned with Lions Clubs International’s Emerging Leaders Learning Initiative. Members described the day as productive and energizing, noting that it set a strong foundation for the club’s next chapter.

The new executive is expected to roll out its first service projects in July as it begins its term.

On our usual Leo La Vida Loca Friday, we come together to chill, discuss, and reflect on what we have done and what we are about to do - while also reminding ourselves of who we are.

Yes, LEO = Leadership, Experience, Opportunity.

On last Friday the 22 May, Mzuzu University Leo Club, being one of the active clubs, was honored to host our MZUNI Leo alumnus and the Leo President Elect of Lilongwe Leo Club, Leo Emmanuel Mangulenje ELLI.

As the home that built him, he never forgets us. In his own words, he said:
“I thank MZUNI Leo Club as the first Leo Club I served in for giving me an opportunity to grow as a Leo.”

In addition, through Leo Emmanuel ELLI Emmanuel Mangulenje Chernzer , the Leo District 412B President Elect, Leo Chantelle Masiyano , conveyed her appreciation for the great work Mzuzu University Leo Club is doing. She expressed her hope that the spirit of the club will not fade away, but instead continue growing stronger and contributing positively to the future of the District.

She also thanked the MZUNI Leo Club for the support rendered during her campaign and voting process, while encouraging all Leos and everyone willing to join us to continue supporting her on this journey of Leonism.

As Mzuzu University Leos, we are always happy to serve, and our support will always remain available as long as we are in this world.

MZUZU UNIVERSITY LEO CLUB: A LEGACY OF SERVICE AND EXCELLENCE

Mzuzu University Leo Club, proudly known as MZUNI Leo Club, continues to set the standard for youth service and leadership in District 412b. For two consecutive Leonistic years, the club has been recognized at the district level for its outstanding dedication, consistency, and impact.

In a remarkable display of commitment, MZUNI Leo Club has been named Club of the Year for two years running, reflecting sustained excellence in service projects, member engagement, and alignment with the Lions Clubs International mission of “We Serve.” The club also earned the Best Reporting Club award for reporting the highest number of activities on the LCI Portal, 27 activities in the 2025-2026 Leonistic year alone demonstrating a culture of accountability, transparency, and pride in documenting every service hour given to the Mzuzu community and beyond.

At the heart of this success is Club President Leo Tendai Chinomwe ELLI, who was honored as Best Leo of the Year. Her leadership has been defined by vision, discipline, and the ability to mobilize members into action, helping the club grow stronger in both quality of service and unity among members.

The awards were presented under the leadership of District Governor Lion Gladson Kuyeri MJF and District President Leo Wesley Kondowe ELLI, whose “Light the Way” theme for 2025-2026 has inspired clubs across the district to raise the bar, a call MZUNI Leo Club has answered with action, not just words.

Behind these certificates are countless hours of service through clean-up drives, health awareness campaigns, donations, youth mentorship, and projects that directly touch lives in Mzuzu. The club’s consistency proves that excellence is not a one-time event, it is a habit.

As MZUNI Leo Club celebrates this milestone, the message is clear: when young people commit to service, lead with integrity, and report their impact, they do not just win awards, they build a legacy.

Bring light where there is darkness. 💡

The Mzuzu University Leo Club, in partnership with the NEGO Foundation, successfully conducted an outreach event yesterday, Friday, 8th May, at Lupaso Community Day Secondary School.

Secondary school students face many challenges in their journey towards achieving their dreams and becoming future university students. The outreach aimed to engage and encourage them through discussions on key topics such as Mental Health, Academic Excellence, and Sanitation & Well-being.

School materials and reusable sanitary pads were also distributed to promote access to learning resources and support menstrual hygiene.

As the sun settled down, the smiles were still shining! ☀️🌚

Small acts, big impact Mzuzu University Leo Club steps up💙

This week, members of the Mzuzu University Leo Club came together for a three month old baby girl who lost her mother a week after birth. She’s in urgent need of milk and care.

Yesterday, the club contributed and this morning, donated a tin of milk, washing and bathing soap to support her feeding and wellbeing.

But the need is ongoing. If you’d like to join us in supporting this baby girl. We thank Pamthunzi safety Net for constantly supporting the baby in the long term.

Community starts with us. Proud of the Mzuni Leo club family for leading with compassion.
