CHIBISA FCAP AWARDED MK1,000,000 FOR OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY PERFORMANCE
Chibisa FCAP Community has been awarded MK1,000,000 by SPARK Microgrants in recognition of its outstanding performance under the Titukulane Tikusamala Chilengedwe Project.
Since 2024, SPRODETA, with funding from SPARK Microgrants, has been implementing the Titukulane Tikusamala Chilengedwe Project across communities under Traditional Authorities Mtwalo, Jalavikuba and Mpherembe.
The project started with 12 communities, four under each Traditional Authority, with the aim of strengthening communities’ capacity to take action on environmental conservation and other community development priorities.
As part of the project’s design, the communities were expected to graduate after two years and continue their activities independently. The graduation ceremony, held earlier in June, marked the beginning of this new chapter.
However, one community stood out.
Chibisa FCAP emerged as the best-performing community among the 12 participating communities, demonstrating exceptional commitment even after graduation.
The community’s outstanding performance was particularly evident in three areas: participation, unity and environmental conservation.
Despite graduating from the project, Chibisa FCAP members continued to hold regular meetings, demonstrating that the community had taken ownership of the initiative and was determined to sustain its activities.
The community has also demonstrated remarkable unity. Members work together, support one another and approach their activities with a strong sense of collective responsibility.
But perhaps the most visible achievement is in environmental conservation. Chibisa FCAP members have continued to care for the trees planted through the project, with the trees now thriving and looking healthy.
These efforts caught the attention of SPARK Microgrants, which rewarded the community with MK1,000,000 to help boost and expand its activities.
The award is more than financial support. It is a recognition of what communities can achieve when they take ownership, work together and remain committed to their goals.
For SPRODETA, Chibisa FCAP’s achievement is a source of immense pride and joy.
Congratulations to Chibisa FCAP! Your commitment, unity, and dedication to protecting the environment demonstrate that sustainable change begins with communities themselves.
SPRODETA looks forward to seeing Chibisa FCAP build on this achievement and inspire other communities to take ownership of their development and environmental conservation efforts.
