During the Christmas season, scouts from different parts of Malawi came together for a special camp on the beautiful island of Likoma. There were scouts from Mzuzu, Likoma, Blantyre, and Lilongwe. Though we came from different places, we were united by the Scout spirit of service, friendship, and teamwork.
One of the main activities of our camp was helping to clean Likoma District Hospital. Early in the morning, wearing our scout uniforms and smiles, we worked together to sweep, collect rubbish, clean the surroundings, and make the hospital a healthier and more welcoming place for patients and staff. It was hard work, but we did it with joy, knowing that our small actions would make a big difference to the community.
After the service work, the camp was filled with fun and learning. We shared stories, sang scout songs, played games, and learned from one another’s cultures and experiences. The Likoma scouts warmly welcomed us, and new friendships were formed that will last a lifetime.
Celebrating Christmas together made the camp even more special. We laughed, shared meals, and reflected on the true meaning of Christmas love, giving, and serving others. The sound of the lake, the joy of fellowship, and the spirit of scouting made the moments unforgettable.
Our Likoma camp was not just a camp; it was a lesson in unity, service, and joy. We returned home tired but happy, with clean hearts, strong friendships, and memories we will always cherish.
