It was agreed that stakeholders will work together in activities such as awareness campaigns, community outreach, and other SRHR-related initiatives.

Today, Mzuzu University, through the Mzuni Hope Initiative, held a Mental Health Awareness Campaign under the theme “There’s Life After University.” The campaign focused on drug and substance abuse prevention and sexual-related issues affecting young people.

Mzuzu Youth Action Movement (YAM) delivered a presentation highlighting how behaviors often seen as “fun” during or after university can have long-term negative consequences. Students were encouraged to make responsible choices, avoid drug and alcohol abuse, and reduce risky sexual behaviors to protect their health and future.

Key messages included abstinence, consistent condom use, and regular HIV testing.

YAM was represented by Monalisa Nyirenda, who presented on behalf of the organization.

On 20th December 2025, we were proud to be part of the FPAM Annual Delegates Conference, themed
“Resilience and Innovation: Sustaining SRHR in the Face of Funding Challenges.”

The conference sparked insightful conversations on how innovation can drive the sustainability of SRHR initiatives despite financial challenges.

The Youth Action Movement – Mzuzu Branch, represented by our Chairperson Audrey Murphy, showcased our income-generating initiatives that enable effective and uninterrupted implementation of our activities.

Inspired, motivated, and ready — we look forward to a 2026 full of creativity, resilience, and impactful innovations that will take our work even further🔥🔥

On 18th December 2025, Youth Action Movement (Mzuzu Branch) came together for a special double celebration — honoring our Chairperson’s birthday and holding our End-of-Year Review Meeting.

It was a meaningful moment of reflection as we assessed how the year went, celebrated our strengths and achievements, identified areas for growth, and boldly shaped our vision for 2026.

Beyond the discussions, we shared laughter, connection, and unity over a wonderful braai and refreshments.

We are incredibly proud of how far we have come and deeply inspired by what we have achieved together. With renewed energy and clear direction, we are fully geared up for an even greater 2026. 💪✨

Together, we move forward. Together, we lead change.

Yesterday, Mzuzu Youth Action Movement successfully conducted a Peer Education Training aimed at empowering young people with accurate information on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). We were delighted to host Nkhorongo and Kang’ona Youth Clubs, and we truly appreciate their active participation. The session was officially opened by our Chairperson, Audrey.

Topics covered included Peer Education, HIV/AIDS, STIs, PrEP & PEP, and Sexual Pleasure. The sessions helped participants gain more confidence in sharing SRHR information with their peers and communities.

We sincerely thank our dedicated facilitators — Chisomo, Ruth, Mwayi, Ritah, and Kingdom — for their great work and passion. Despite limited resources, participants remained engaged throughout, showing strong commitment to learning and collaboration.

The training concluded with an open discussion on how youth clubs can strengthen partnerships and sustain their initiatives. The Chairperson also shared creative ideas on income-generating activities such as sausage making, sweet malambe, bangle making, broiler chicken farming, and doormat making — to help the clubs become self-reliant and financially stable.

Together, we continue to build a generation of informed, empowered, and responsible youth.
