We love seeing the 777 maize variety emerging so beautifully alongside groundnuts in this intercropping plot. This is what sustainable agriculture looks like—two crops supporting each other, maximizing land use, and working with nature rather than against it.

The groundnuts enrich the soil with nitrogen while the maize provides structure and shade. A perfect partnership, much like the relationship between our sister companies under the Apex Kwathu Group. 🤝

🍠 Growing Strong: A Sweet Potato Update from Apex Kwathu Farms.

There is something deeply satisfying about visiting our subsidiary farms and witnessing the fruits of consistent labour. Today, our team stopped by Apex Kwathu Farms to check on their sweet potato plot—and we were delighted by what we found.

The vines are spreading generously across the soil, thick with lush green leaves that signal healthy growth beneath the surface. While we cannot yet see the potatoes themselves, we know that underground, something wonderful is taking shape. The plants are telling us they are happy, and that is always a good sign.

But the work never stops.

This week, the Apex Kwathu Farms team will be out in force, giving this plot a thorough weeding. It is a simple task but an essential one. Removing competing plants means more nutrients, more water, and more energy go directly to the developing sweet potatoes. It is this kind of attentive care that transforms a good crop into a great harvest.
