STANDING STRONG WITH OUR COMMUNITIES

Under the Egmont Trust-funded Integrated Approaches for Community Empowerment project, our Development Concept officers today hosted a vital academic performance review with patrons and matrons at Bisa primary in Machinga . We also visited families whose homes collapsed in heavy rains, assessing impacts and witnessing first hand vulnerability caused. Resilience in action! 💪

Development Concept, with financial support from Egmont Trust,in 2025 has trained 100 new beneficiaries from four villages in Machinga under Traditional Authority Nkula in Village Savings and Loan (VSL) groups. This activity is part of the broader Integrated Approach for Community Empowerment project, which aims to strengthen the capacity of local communities to manage their savings, access loans, and improve their economic well-being.

Through practical sessions and group discussions, participants gained skills to organize, save, and borrow responsibly, promoting sustainable development at the grassroots level. This training demonstrates a strong commitment to empowering vulnerable groups with tools for financial independence and poverty reduction. Reducing the impact of HIV and AIDS in vulnerable communities.

Today, Development Concept staff conducted a successful Monitoring and Evaluation field visit under the Actions for Climate Resilience project, funded by Hlanganisa, at Sumani in Traditional Authority Sitola, Machinga. The visit focused on assessing project progress and impact on community resilience to climate challenges, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable development and climate action in the region. We remain dedicated to empowering local communities through evidence-based interventions and strong partnerships.
