Imagine a school where the land is a living classroom. Where the soil, wind, water, and sunlight all work together in a productive, life-giving system. A place where children are excited to learn, surrounded by guava, pawpaws, mangoes, and avocado trees—a source of joy and nutrition amidst the current hunger challenges.

This is the Malawi we are building, one school at a time.

This week, we are on the ground in District, working with the amazing communities at and to bring this vision to life through our Integrated Land Use Design training.

Simultaneously, at our Timphunzire Demonstration Centre, our "A-Z of Biofertilizer" course is in full swing! We're unpacking the world of microbes to solve the so-called "global fertilizer crisis."

In just two days, our participants have been regenerating dead soils with:
✅ Native Microbes (Solids and Liquid)
✅ Jadam Microbial Solutions
✅ Lactic Acid Bacteria
✅ Biochar-based fertilizers
✅ Fish Hydrolysate
✅ Bocashi
✅ Banana peel fertilizers!

This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for more updates as we grow this movement together!

This week, we're bringing our mission to life at (Lilongwe Rural West) and (Lilongwe Urban)! We're rolling up our sleeves to transform these school grounds into vibrant, living classrooms that are productive, people-oriented, and ecologically healthy.

At the training came alive with a magical moment when one dedicated participant arrived, proudly carrying a bucket of fresh cow dung for the manure making practicals.

Why was this so exciting? Because this simple, readily available ingredient is a powerhouse for unlocking life in our soils! We used it to create powerful Biostimulants and Inoculants, the very same natural technology that drives revolutionary farming models in India, like Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) and Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCMNF).

Want to learn how to bring this power to your own soil?

Join us this November 24th for a deep dive into the amazing world of natural farming! We will equip you with the knowledge to create biostimulants that regenerate "dead" soils, covering everything from seed treatment to soil inoculants and microbial cultures.

This 5-day practical training is for:
*

School-Community Integrated Land Use Design Training: Cultivating a Resilient Future! 🌱
This week, our team is buzzing with activities, and we're so excited to share the journey with you! We're on the ground in Lilongwe Urban schools ( , , and ), guiding them through an intensive 5-day Integrated Land Use Design (ILUD) training.

The goal? To transform school grounds into living classrooms! We're working with these amazing schools to design productive, people-oriented, and ecologically healthy landscapes.

As we count down to our A-Z of Biofertilizer Training on November 24th, One of the practical session during this week's training is the making of BOCASHI!

♻️ What is Bocashi? This Japanese word describes a powerful way of fermenting organic wastes into a potent, nutrient-rich fertiliser. In just 12–15 days, you can produce this "half-cooked" organic matter that acts like a nest for microbes. When applied to your crops, it continues to decompose, supercharging your soil with microbial life and becoming an excellent promoter of overall soil health!

Ready to learn how to make your own biofertilizers and turn waste into black gold for your garden?

Join our A-Z of Biofertilizer Training this November 24th! Contact +265881028082 to book your spot.

As the final week of our Permaculture Design Course unfolds, we’re reminded that soil and water are inseparable 🌊 💧. Just like Soils, Water management is at the heart of transforming challenges into abundance, and our incredible participants are putting essential principles into action: slowing, spreading, sinking, stopping, and storing/shading water across the landscape.

We’re getting hands-on with swales—using simple A-frames to map contours and create living sponges that capture rainwater, prevent erosion, and recharge groundwater. This is how we drought-proof our land!

But water is only part of the story. We’re designing thriving ecosystems using plant guilds—nature’s own communities where every plant has a purpose:

Food for People (fruits, vegetables)

Food for the Soil (nitrogen-fixers)

Supporters (natural trellises)

Climbers (vertical growth)

Diggers (break up compaction)

Protectors (repel pests)

Attractors (beneficial insects)

Ground Covers (protect and nurture the soil)

We’re also building life from the very beginning! In our nursery session, we sowed seeds and learned how to raise strong, healthy seedlings ready to join these guilds. Food sovereignty starts with seed sovereignty—we explored different seed systems and emphasized the critical importance of farmer-saved seeds.

And when it comes to pests? We don’t fight nature—we work with it. Through Integrated Pest Management (IPM), we learned that everything begins with SOIL HEALTH. Healthy soil grows resilient plants that naturally resist pests and diseases. By building fertile, living soil with compost, biofertilizers, and organic matter, we prevent issues before they even begin!

This is permaculture: more than just techniques—it’s a mindset of cooperating with nature to create resilient, productive, and harmonious systems.

The future of farming in Malawi is regenerative, ecological, and in the hands of these dedicated eco-warriors! 💚
