Caring Hands Malawi

Caring Hands Malawi We are a youth led mental health organization dedicated to providing mental health support services to young people.

Caring Hands Centre is a non-profit organization that promotes mental health awareness and the importance of a healthy mental wellbeing. The aim is to promote a society in which everyone can benefit from good mental health. Our mission is to help individuals better understand mental health issues and to maintain their mental wellbeing to be active survivors rather than passive victims. Our vision

is to transform the way our nation and societies approaches mental illness at every level, and helping to remove the stigma around mental health to empower those struggling. The aim of Caring Hands is to restore hope to people going through post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety and other forms of mental health issues, to help people realise their full potential and have greater control over their lives and ultimately contribute positively to their communities.

Today, Caring Hands had the privilege of participating in the High-Level Partner Roundtable on the Safe Space Mentorship Programme, convened by the Government of Malawi through Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture and UNFPA Malawi.

The roundtable brought together government leaders, development partners, civil society organizations, the private sector, and young people to discuss opportunities for strengthening and scaling interventions that support adolescent girls and young women across Malawi.

We were inspired by the shared commitment to creating safe and supportive spaces where girls can access mentorship, life skills, education support, psychosocial support, and sexual and reproductive health information and services.

As an organization dedicated to promoting mental health and psychosocial wellbeing, we value partnerships that empower young people, strengthen resilience, and create opportunities for them to thrive.

Feeling anxious, isolated or overwhelmed during difficult times is normal.

Mental and physical health are closely connected. Simple actions — like talking about your feelings, staying active, practicing mindfulness, eating well and getting enough sleep — can help boost happiness and support overall well-being.

This past weekend, we were at Lilongwe University of Agriculture & Natural Resources(LUANAR) for a mental health awareness session. Passionate students came together not just to learn, but to strengthen their support system for one another. Through our collaboration, we equipped them with practical skills to support peers facing mental health challenges.
The training covered depression, its causes, signs, and symptoms, alongside psychological interventions and psychosocial support, all in a space filled with openness and purpose.
Our goal is to create safe spaces on campus where students feel seen, heard, and supported, because it starts with peers helping peers.

Mental wellbeing is a core part of safety and health at work.

Each year, 45 million healthy life years are lost due to psychosocial risks at work (ILO, 2026), these are years lived in good physical and mental health.

As Gen Z enters the workforce with record levels of stress and burnout, they’re raising an important question: what can be done? The article highlights how isolation and limited support are driving burnout among young people. A preventative approach that strengthens connection and support can help protect mental wellbeing before stress takes a toll.
