Traditional leaders in Dowa, working with young people and community and facility-based health workers, have expressed interest in raising community awareness and promoting young people's access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights services, including contraception, HIV, and cervical cancer screening.
Speaking during the four days SRHR Demand Creation orientation at Dzoole Health Center from 20th July 2026, GHV Dzoole, GVH Mtipulura, and GVH Msokombwe who represented all 15 chiefs that were invited with 15 youth and health workers, assured that youth in their area have free access to SRHR services and they do not condone any dissident voice towards the youth who demand for such services. They added that although they do not subscribe to promoting existence of LGBT+ community in their area, they understand the importance of allowing everyone access health services at any service delivery point to prevent HIV, STIโs and other health problems in their area.
