St Mary's Parish Scout Group

As part of our Childhood Cancer Awareness activities, we came together for a Sports Day at St Mary's parish Kamuzu Barracks while wearing touch of gold or yellow to show our support for children and families affected by cancer.

The day reminded us of the power of coming together and sports gave us an opportunity to connect, have fun and use our voices to raise awareness about childhood cancer.

We played for more than the score, We played for solidarity and every child. We continue to stand with children affected by cancer and remind them that they are seen, valued and supported.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month a time to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and stand with children and families affected by cancer.

Cancer is not a sin, nor is it a punishment. Any child can be affected by cancer regardless of their background or circumstances. Children living with cancer deserve love, care and support.

As Scouts, let us wear gold, talk about childhood cancer, support affected families and stand with every child fighting bravely.

No child should face cancer alone.

Today we met again as St Mary's Parish Scout Group. We welcomed scouts to this holiday period and encourage everyone to make the most of the break by learning new skills, serving others and strengthening the spirit of Scouting.

During today's meeting, members took part in a flag breaking ceremony and a practical woggle-making session, helping to build discipline and creativity. We also celebrated academic excellence by recognizing and rewarding Scouts who achieved positions in the top ten of their respective classes. Congratulations to all the award recipients and we encourage every Scout to continue striving for excellence both in school and in Scouting.

Today we hosted scouts from Catholic Scout Association- Archdiocese of Lilongwe for a Unit Management Training. The training aimed to improve leaders' knowledge and skills in managing Scout units effectively. Participants learned about the roles and responsibilities of unit leaders, programme planning, record keeping, communication, and teamwork. The sessions encouraged leaders to share ideas and learn from one another.

The training reflects our commitment to developing competent and responsible Scout leaders who can provide quality Scouting to young people. By strengthening leadership at unit level, we continue to build stronger Scout groups and support the growth of young people in line with the values and principles of Catholic Scouting and the Scout Movement.
