In Malawi, there are young people (10-18 years) in secondary schools who drop out of school because they cannot afford to pay tuition fee. The pupils are stranded and do not know who they can reach to get support on their education. Then, they are individuals in Malawi, who are looking for young people who they can sponsor, but they do not have the time to hunt for students that they can help. Fin
ally, they are organizations that offer bursaries and scholarships in Malawi, but very few individuals are aware of the existence of these opportunities. In trying to address this gap, a website, Maphunziro 265 has been developed that aims to address this gap. The site, allows individuals to post calls for applications for students that fit their criteria. For example, if James Banda, can develop a k20,000 scholarship or bursary for students that meet his or her criteria. John Banda will be able to send this call on this website, and it will be run on the site for free. You will be able to do this, in the comfort of your home or office. The website also has a page that will publish calls for applications from organizations that offer bursaries and scholarships that focus on Malawi. This applies to small and big organizations in all sectors that already offer scholarship or awards that target people in Malawi. These are both local and international organizations. As long as you are an organization, and you are willing to develop a scholarship, we will run the advert for you. This will also be free of charge. The site will also be running mentor on call site. This is where people who are interested in mentor young people in Malawi will submit their names, bio and contact details. We will then help with the matching and pairing of mentors and mentees.
