Today, we proudly joined the commemoration of World TB Day at Mitundu Primary School Ground under the theme: “Unite to End TB” and “Leprosy is curable; the real challenge is stigma.”

The event was a strong reminder that ending TB requires collective action, community engagement, and breaking the stigma that continues to hinder progress.

We are especially delighted to share that all the award-winning Community Sputum Collection Points (CSCPs) recognized today are managed by Paradiso TB Patients Trust, under World Vision International, an achievement that reflects the dedication and hard work of our teams on the ground.

Congratulations to: Mayiwaza CSCP (Dedza) for Position 1 on Best Performing SCP, Congratulations Agripa SCP (Mzimba) for Position 2 of best performing CSCP and lastly congratulations Area 36 CSCP (Lilongwe) for Position 3 of best performing CSCP.

Your commitment to improving TB detection and care in our communities is truly commendable. You are playing a vital role in bringing services closer to the people and saving lives.

As we mark this important day, let us continue to stand together, raise awareness, fight stigma, and work tirelessly towards a TB-free Malawi.

❤️ Caring Beyond TB: Because Our Elders Matter

At Paradiso TB Patients Trust, care goes beyond treatment. The volunteers reached out to elderly members of the community, sharing soap and food items as a simple but meaningful act of love.

Our volunteers don’t only walk with people affected by TB , they also stand with our elders, who remain at the heart of our communities.

It’s been a while since our last update, but on the ground, the work has never stopped.

At Paradiso TB Patients Trust, we continue to work hand in hand with communities across Malawi to prevent and respond to TB, HIV, and post-TB challenges. Through community outreach, case identification, referrals, advocacy, and partnerships, we remain committed to ensuring that the most vulnerable are seen, heard, and supported.

Our work is powered by the resilience of the communities we serve, the dedication of our volunteers and field teams, and the continued support of our partners.

We look forward to sharing more updates, stories from the field, and impact as we reconnect and engage more consistently.

Thank you for staying with us, wishing you a prosperous 2026💙

World Vision Malawi and the National TB and Leprosy Elimination Programme (NTLEP) are currently distributing enablers to volunteers under the Global Fund GC7 grant.
These enablers will help volunteers carry out their work more effectively as they continue identifying TB cases in their communities.
A big thank you to World Vision and NTLEP for this vital support. Together, we’re working toward ending TB.

From 23rd to 27th June, Paradiso TB Patients’ Trust successfully conducted an Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA). The purpose of this exercise was to assess how our work is benefiting communities and volunteers, and how we collaborate with stakeholders and traditional leaders.

The process was exciting and inclusive, involving volunteers, stakeholders, traditional leaders, staff, and board members.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Charles Banda for his encouragement, guidance, and valuable feedback.

A big appreciation also goes to our Executive Director, Mr. Bruce Matewere, and Technical Advisor, Miss. Mara Kumbweza Banda, for their active participation despite their busy schedules.

Together, we grow stronger and continue to make an impact!

On 31st May 2025, we had the honor of welcoming visitors from the German Embassy, who came to meet our Pen Pal children under the Pen Pal Project, one of our initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable children in the communities we serve.
The visitors brought along balls and crayons as gifts, which will enhance our recreational and creative activities with the children during our regular meetings.
We are truly grateful for this generous gesture, which not only brought smiles to the children’s faces but also added renewed energy to our work.
Thank you to the German Embassy for your support and for believing in the power of community care!

We are excited to share that Paradiso TB Patients Trust has successfully distributed bicycles and Paradiso cloth to our volunteers in the Southern Region, Mchinji, Dowa, and parts of Lilongwe TB Clubs!
These bicycles were donated by the Stop TB Partnership and officially handed over to us by Her Excellency the First Lady of Malawi, Madam Monica Chakwera, on 24th March 2025, during the World TB Day commemoration.
This distribution is not just a boost to mobility, it’s a strong motivation for our volunteers, recognizing their dedication and making their community work easier and more visible. The bicycles will help them reach more people with TB awareness and support, while the Paradiso cloth strengthens our identity across the regions.
We remain committed to ending TB by supporting and uplifting those on the frontlines. Thank you to our volunteers, you are our true champions!

From 7 to 9 April 2025, we conducted a 3-day training on the HOPE App, a digital app designed to enhance TB patient data management, follow up, and care at the community level.
The training brought together 18 participants, including staff members, district coordinators, and Super Volunteers. The participants gained hands on experience using the app and dashboard, learning how to register clients, monitor treatment progress, and improve TB care delivery.
Despite a few technical challenges, the energy and teamwork throughout the sessions were remarkable. By the end of the training, 98% of participants could confidently use the app. Our Super Volunteers are now ready to take the lead in mentoring other volunteers in their TB clubs.
We are proud of this important step forward and grateful to everyone who made it possible including LHLI, our facilitators, Executive Director Bruce Matewere, and Technical Advisor Mara Kumbweza Banda.

On 24 March, we had the honor of commemorating World Stop TB Day alongside Her Excellency, First Lady Monica Chakwera our TB Champion at Mgona Ground in Area 25.
Her presence at this important event marked a major milestone in Malawi’s fight against tuberculosis and leprosy. As a dedicated advocate, the First Lady continues to show commitment to raising awareness and inspiring action to end TB in our communities.
In recognition of grassroots efforts, the First Lady presented awards to outstanding facilities, journalist and organizations making a difference in the TB response. She also donated bicycles to Paradiso volunteers who are also TB survivors, honoring their tireless dedication to TB care and community outreach.
We are deeply grateful for her leadership and continued support as we work together toward a TB-free Malawi. 🇲🇼❤️
