A statement from the Managing Director:

Tsinde Eco Empower applauds President Peter Mutharika and the Ministries of Local Government and Health, in particular, Ministers Ben Phiri and Madalitso Baloyi, for their decisive action on waste management in Lilongwe’s markets. The recent joint inspections at Lilongwe Main Market and Nsungwi Market following Executive Order No. 2 of 2026 highlight the government’s commitment to sanitation, hygiene, and public health, crucial steps in curbing cholera and improving community wellbeing.

We also commend the government’s recognition of the role of local authorities and vendors in maintaining clean spaces. This bold vision creates an enabling environment for private sector innovators like Tsinde Eco Empower and other Circular Model Businesses to collaborate, provide sustainable waste solutions, and scale circular economy initiatives that turn waste into clean energy, eco-bricks, and compost.

We call on the government to actively engage private sector players and community organizations in implementing these policies. Together, we can transform waste management into a driver of environmental protection, health, and economic opportunity.
