Musician Emmie Deebo has announced that she is committing all royalties received from the Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma) to a new scholarship initiative aimed at supporting students struggling to pay for school fees.

The Emmie Deebo Scholarship Fund initiative would also receive additional support from streaming royalties and proceeds from her upcoming First Born Tour, which is scheduled to run from August through October.

The award-winning artist, who is also an ambassador for FUNetix, a US-based literacy programme, says the scholarship project is a personal response to challenges she faced during her own education journey.

This is an appreciation post for a phenomenal woman— a woman with a vision so clear and powerful, and the grace and tenacity to bring it to life flawlessly.

From our very first conversation, she was warm, welcoming, and intentional. Even while orchestrating a week so grand and beautiful, managing countless moving parts and people, she still took a moment to check on me personally during a tough time. That kind of care, awareness, and genuine heart is rare 🥹

What she pulled off could only be done by someone visionary, resilient, patient, and deeply grounded. The way her incredible team stood firmly behind her speaks volumes about the kind of woman she is. And I can proudly say that I’ll now be one of the people who show up whenever she calls.

Thank you, Queen Victoria, for putting together such a powerful experience—for all the lessons, wisdom, and insight into the music business—and for the memories that will stay with me for a long time.
