In a bid to alleviate hunger among elderly people and persons with disabilities, Joy Abilities Empowerment (JAE) has distributed maize flour to 71 beneficiaries in Liwonde, Machinga District.

The distribution exercise took place on December 12, 2025, in Liwonde, with support from the Minister of Education, Honourable Bright Msaka, SC.

Speaking during the ceremony, JAE Director Benedetter Vaz said the initiative is part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity among vulnerable groups in the district.

She noted that elderly people and persons with disabilities are increasingly struggling to meet their basic needs due to the rising number of calamities affecting their livelihoods.

Vaz emphasized that urgent support is required to sustain their lives before the situation worsens.

Some of the beneficiaries commended JAE for the timely assistance, saying the maize flour will help ease the hunger they are currently facing.

They lamented that food shortages have severely affected their households and appealed to other well-wishers to provide additional support to help them cope with the ongoing challenges.

Joy Abilities Empowerment Distributes Wheelchairs to Individuals with Disabilities

In a heartwarming ceremony held on August 7 at our offices in Liwonde, Machinga, Joy Abilities Empowerment (JAE) distributed 10 wheelchairs to individuals with physical disabilities. The event was a vibrant celebration of the organization's commitment to supporting marginalized groups.

Many individuals with disabilities in the area have faced significant mobility challenges, hindering their ability to engage in economic activities and run their businesses effectively. The provision of wheelchairs aims to alleviate these challenges and empower these individuals to live more independently.

We believe that these wheelchairs will greatly reduce the mobility challenges faced by these individuals .As part of our ongoing efforts to support them, JAE is committed to continuing to provide various forms of assistance to improve their well-being.

In a partnership with Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Authopedic Center ,the distribution of wheelchairs is a testament to JAE's dedication to promoting inclusivity and enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities in the community.

Today, I had the honor of participating in a significant walk organized by the Malawi National Sports Council, held under the theme 'Celebrating Women in Sports.' As a proud Malawi Paralympic athlete, I was thrilled to be part of this momentous event, which aimed to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in sports. It was a fantastic opportunity to come together with fellow athletes, sports enthusiasts, and advocates for women's empowerment, and I felt inspired by the energy and passion of everyone involved.
