🌍💻 SOS Children’s Villages Malawi is proud to be part of the 2026 International ICT Expo under the theme: “Unlocking Malawi’s Digital Economy: ICT Exports, Trusted Payments and Fraud Resilience.”

We were delighted to attend alongside ICT students from our Lilongwe Vocational Training Centre, giving young people an opportunity to engage with innovations shaping Malawi’s digital future.

As an organization working to ensure every child grows up with the care, protection and opportunities they need, we recognize that digital transformation is not only an economic issue—it is also a child rights issue.

Through our programmes, including digital cash transfers reaching vulnerable families across Malawi, we rely on digital financial systems to strengthen livelihoods and improve access to essential services. This makes it critical for us to champion digital ecosystems that are safe, trusted, inclusive and accessible.

At the same time, we are advocating for safer digital spaces for every child, everywhere.

As more children and young people access online opportunities, they also face growing risks such as cyberbullying, online abuse, exploitation and exposure to harmful content. Protecting children in the digital world requires collective action from government, the private sector, civil society and communities.

Our participation in the Expo reflects our commitment to digital child rights and our belief that digital innovation must go hand in hand with strong safeguarding systems that protect children’s dignity, safety and wellbeing.

Together, we can build a digital economy that not only drives growth but also protects and empowers every child.

💻🤝 SOS Children’s Villages Malawi is proud to contribute MK 5,000,000 towards the 2026 ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) International Expo, reaffirming our commitment to empowering children, young people and families through innovation and sustainable development.

As an organization dedicated to ensuring every child grows up with the care, protection and opportunities they need to thrive, we recognize that digital technology is transforming the way people learn, work, access services and participate in the economy.

Our support for the ICTAM International Expo reflects our belief that Malawi’s digital transformation must be inclusive, safe and accessible to all. As we increasingly utilize digital systems in our programming, including digital cash transfers to support vulnerable families, we understand the importance of promoting trusted digital platforms and strengthening resilience against emerging digital risks.

We also recognize that as children and young people engage more with digital spaces, there is a growing need to protect them from online abuse, cyberbullying, exploitation and other digital threats. Digital progress must go hand in hand with strong child safeguarding measures.

Together with Malawi Government , the private sector and other stakeholders, we remain committed to building a digital future that creates opportunities while protecting the rights, safety and wellbeing of every child.

📚⚖️ Empowering young people with knowledge for the world of work

Through the Skills for a Vibrant Economy (SAVE) Project, funded by the World Bank through the Government of Malawi, SOS Children’s Villages Malawi, in partnership with the Lilongwe District Labour Office, conducted an awareness session on children’s rights and labour laws for students at our vocational training centre in Lilongwe.

The session brought together both formal and informal trainees pursuing skills in Tailoring and Fashion Designing, Edible Horticulture, Electrical Installation, Food Production, Welding and Fabrication, Bricklaying and Carpentry.

Participants gained valuable knowledge on workplace standards, labour laws, fair wages, working hours, leave entitlements, occupational safety and protection from exploitation and child labour.

đź’¬ Chimwemwe, a Food Production student, shared:
"I did not fully understand my rights in the workplace or what protection exist under labour laws. Now I know what is expected of me and what I should expect from my employer. This knowledge will help me stay safe and confident during my attachment and future employment."

đź’¬ Esnart, a Tailoring and Fashion Designing student, added:
"Before this session, I was not aware of how labour laws apply to me as a trainee. I have learned about my rights and responsibilities, and I now feel better prepared to work in different organisations. I will use this knowledge to protect myself and contribute positively in my future workplace."

By strengthening awareness of labour rights and responsibilities, we are empowering young people to navigate the world of work safely, confidently and with dignity while building a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

🏆🎉 Congratulations to Arsenal – 2025/2026 Premier League Champions!

What a season! Arsenal have shown that teamwork, discipline and belief can turn dreams into reality. From the first whistle to lifting the trophy, they reminded us that champions are built through consistency, resilience and unity. 🔴⚪

At SOS Children’s Villages Malawi, we celebrate moments like these not just for the excitement on the pitch, but for the powerful reminder of what children and young people can achieve when they are supported, encouraged and given safe spaces to grow.

Sport continues to be a strong tool for building confidence, teamwork, and resilience among children and youth. Just as Arsenal’s success reflects discipline and unity, we remain committed to strengthening families and communities so that every child has the opportunity to thrive, both on and off the field.

Here’s to inspiring more children to dream big, stay active and believe in their potential. 💙
