Today in Lilongwe, we officially launched the NCA-DCA Country Strategy 2025-2029—a bold roadmap and plan for our work complementing government’s development efforts. Our Country Director, Stefan Jansen, in his address, acknowledged the changing donor funding landscape in the wake of the cessation of USAID and global aid is shifting, but as NCA-DCA we do not stand still in the face of adversity—we move forward! This new country strategy commits to innovation, determination, and collaboration. The new strategy addresses GBV, climate and environmental stewardship, fighting inequality and economic development and food security. Jansen also emphasized that while the aid landscape has changed, the challenges of poverty, hunger, environmental degradation, and inequality remain—and have even grown. He said that is why NCA-DCA will be more innovative, exploring new ways of financing projects, and forging strong partnerships with the private sector, faith-based organizations, the civil society and government. During the event Jansen introduced NCA-DCA Innovation Fund—already seeded with 16 million MWK—to support economic growth, food security, climate action, and gender equality, while calling for more donors, private sector collaboration and more support from all other stakeholders. He appealed to all present that they should invest in local solutions and lasting impact. Special thanks to Her Excellency the Norwegian Ambassador to Malawi, Ingrid Marie Mikelsen, for her Government’s unwavering support to the work of NCA-DCA in Malawi. The Deputy Minister of Health, Halima Daudi also graced the event where she acknowledged NCA-DCAs developmental and humanitarian work in the hard-to-reach areas of the country. Her Excellency the Norwegian ambassador reaffirmed Norway’s commitment to supporting Malawi’s development and humanitarian efforts.
