Today, 28th March 2026, Lilongwe South Archdeaconry in the Anglican Diocese of Lake Malawi celebrated St. Mary’s Day at Christ the King Anglican Church. To mark the occasion, fruit trees were planted as part of the ceremony. The Venerable Micheal Msakwiza, Guest of Honour Mrs. Jacqueline Kainja, and Canon Josephy Kaswanyundo each planted a fruit tree, demonstrating our commitment to environmental stewardship.

Archbishop Sarah is enthroned to serve as the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury. Bishop Mark said: We welcome Archbishop Sarah in the name of our Lord and with great joy. She takes on this responsibility at a time of great challenge and great opportunity, and we hold her, the Church of England, especially the Province of Canterbury, and this nation in our prayers. Sarah brings remarkable gifts and vast experience, and it will be a privilege to serve alongside her.

We pray for Archbishop Sarah and all who work with her as she takes on this role using a prayer Bishop Mark has adapted from the ordination service for bishops

Almighty God
As you have raised your Servant Sarah to serve as Archbishop of Canterbury,
So fill her with the grace and power which you gave to your apostles,
that as a true shepherd she may feed and govern your flock,
and lead us in proclaiming the gospel of your salvation in the world.
By your gracious Spirit grant her wisdom, grace, humility, and authority,
For the building up of your people and the coming of Your Kingdom
Through Christ our Lord

The Anglican Council In Malawi has shared an urgent need for prayer and support following the recent devastating flooding across the country. Many communities are facing the loss of homes and livelihoods, and the Council is working to respond practically by providing emergency food and essential provisions. The floods have affected 9,598 households, with 128 households displaced and 13 lives tragically lost.

Please join us in praying for:
• All who have lost loved ones, that they may find comfort and strength.
• Those who have lost their homes and are now living in camps, for safety, hope, and the support they need as they rebuild.
• Strength for everyone responding to the disaster, including staff, clergy, parishioners, and local communities working to assist those affected.
