Muslim Disaster Relief Aid (MaDRA) has distributed food assistance to 2,000 people affected by strong winds and flooding under Traditional Authority Ngabu in Chikwawa District, as part of its 2025/26 humanitarian response.

Speaking during the donation, the Director of An-Nasihah Trust and MaDRA representative, Maulana (MI) Muhammad Choonara, said the intervention was driven by compassion and faith. He noted that the support was mobilized through a collective effort of several Islamic organizations working together under the MaDRA umbrella.

Ml Muhammad Choonara added that MaDRA is implementing a nationwide Food and Seed Relief Pack campaign in response to rising food insecurity. The initiative is distributing essential items such as maize flour, beans, soya, cooking oil, and salt to vulnerable households. He said about 7,500 people have already benefited in various districts, with more communities expected to be reached in the coming months.

Member of Parliament for Chikwawa South Constituency, Ilyas Abdul Karim, praised the initiative, describing it as timely assistance, as many families lost their homes and livelihoods due to the floods. Beneficiaries also expressed gratitude, saying the donation has restored hope and dignity to families struggling to access food and shelter.

MaDRA represents a unique and unprecedented collaboration among several respected organizations, including Al-Mahmood, AN Nasihah Trust , Ashraful Aid, Bilal Trust, Blantyre Muslim Youth, Drop of Compassion, Limbe Muslim Jamaat, Muslim Youth United, as well as many other dedicated local organizations and volunteers. ❤️🇲🇼🙏

*AN-NASIHAH TRUST DONATES TO INMATES*

On Saturday, 13th of December 2025, An-Nasihah Trust Malawi, a muslim organization donated assorted clothes for men, women and children to inmates at Nkhotakota Prison.

Handing over the donation to the station's management, An-Nasihah Trust Malawi Project Coordinator Chikalipo Maulana noted that the donation will lessen inmates' need for civilian clothes during their community reintegration.

" I understand when they are inside prison, they are given the same attire for easy recognition, but they can use these clothes upon their sentence expiration," Maulana noted.

Maulana further urged other religious and charitable organisations to consider inmates as they carry-out charitable deeds in various communities across the country.

"They are always inside; they cannot move outside freely. Thus, it is very vital that we intervene in providing some of their basic needs besides the government's provisions." Maulana said

Receiving the donation, Nkhotakota Prison station officer Senior Superintendent Hosea Kondwani Chinyamunyamu hailed An-Nasihah Trust Malawi for the donation, claiming that the donation will benefit both categories of inmates; those on remand and the convicted.

This is not the first time that An-Nasihah Trust has made such a generous donation to inmates at Nkhotakota Prison.
