We took part in the Post-2026 SONA Youth Webinar convened by the National Youth Council of Malawi , bringing together over 200 young people from across the country. The dialogue unpacked the 2026 State of the Nation Address delivered on 13 February by Arthur Peter Mutharika , helping youth clearly see where they fit within national priorities. Discussions highlighted practical entry points for young people, including access to the , where MK100 million of the MK5 billion per constituency has been earmarked for youth-related initiatives.

We encourage fellow young people to organize themselves, follow guidance from relevant line ministries, and proactively position themselves to benefit from these opportunities. But the conversation cannot stop here. The next crucial step is sustained youth engagement around the national budget to ensure SONA commitments are reflected in real allocations that deliver tangible impact for young people.

YASD proudly applauds the LOGIC Champions in GVH Chigonthi for taking a leading role in environmental restoration through the planting of at least 2,200 trees in their community. Over the past two years, YASD has equipped young people with green skills, including tree nursery establishment and management, with the Fundo Club actively participating in these trainings.

Today, we are witnessing the tangible impact of this investment. The youth are not only practicing agroforestry but are also actively restoring degraded and bare land, contributing to improved ecosystems, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods within the community. This milestone demonstrates the power of youth-led action in driving local solutions to climate change

Together we can green our environment, and restore the degraded land.

On 20th January 2026, Youth Action for Success and Development ( YASD) participated in the Malawi 2063 Youth Engagement Strategy (YES) Orientation Meeting, Organised by the National Planning Commission (NPC) with support from UNICEF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, and the National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM).

The meeting brought together key implementing institutions to deepen understanding of the Youth Engagement Strategy, clarify implementation and coordination roles, and discuss existing gaps in indicator targets under the MIP-1.

YASD was recognised as one of the key implementers of the Strategy, with strong emphasis placed on youth participation in agriculture, green jobs and entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability in realising the Malawi vision 2063.

Our executive director contributed to discussions and provided the recommendations which were key to the agenda of the gathering.

We are proud to share that our Logic Champions, Laurent Taferanji and Tadala Phiri, have been featured in The Daily Times for building youth-led green businesses that turn organic waste into fire briquettes.

As alumni of the Logic Project implemented by Youth Action for Success and Development (YASD) with support from IM Swedish Development Partners, their journeys show how practical skills, mentorship, and enterprise support can translate into jobs, clean energy, and environmental protection. This work directly advances Malawi 2063 and the First Malawi Implementation Plan (MIP I) priorities on human capital development, youth employment, SME growth, green industrialisation, and the circular economy, demonstrating how national aspirations can be realised through community-based and youth-driven solutions.

We remain committed to protecting these essentials for every young person and every community we serve.
