The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture has encouraged young people to begin engaging government authorities on accessing the K100 million constituency loan facility announced by President Peter Mutharika in his State of the Nation Address (Sona).

Director of Youth Judith Msusa made the call during a webinar held today, saying young people should not wait for the finalisation of guidelines before making enquiries.

She said government is currently developing operational guidelines for the loan facility alongside those for the Constituency Development Fund to ensure transparency and accountability.

National Youth Network chairperson Salome Kadazi proposed the establishment of Sona implementation structures, including district youth task forces and constituency youth forums, to help monitor disbursement and track funded projects.

Parliamentary Youth Caucus chairperson Jacob Kaumphawi said the responsibility to ensure the soft loan achieves its intended impact lies with the youth themselves, urging them to use the opportunity productively.
