Alliance One To***co (Malawi) Limited (AOTM) has handed over medical supplies worth K8.5 million to Nation Publications Limited (NPL) in support of this year’s Mothers’ Fun Run (MFR) initiative.

MFR is a campaign spearheaded by NPL aimed at improving maternal and neonatal health services in the country.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Corporate Affairs Manager at AOTM, Fran Malila, reiterated the company’s support for the MFR initiative, which she said focuses on one of the key sectors in the country, adding that they are committed as a company to “Grow a Better World.”

“This reaffirms our commitment as a company to continue supporting the annual Nation Publications Limited (NPL) Mothers’ Fun Run to improve maternal and neonatal health care in the country,” she said.

NPL Business Development Manager, Chimwemwe Jere, welcomed the donation, saying it demonstrates the company’s commitment to improving maternal and neonatal health care in the country.

The donation, comprising 10 stethoscopes, 3 nebulisers, a 5-litre oxygen concentrator, blood pressure monitors, and defibrillators, will go towards supporting maternal and neonatal care at Kasungu District Hospital (KDH) and its surrounding health centres.

Air Cargo Malawi Limited has donated K5 million towards this year’s Mother’s Fun Run (MFR) initiative.

MFR is a Nation Publications Limited (NPL) campaign aimed at improving maternal and neonatal health services in the country.

Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony in Lilongwe, Air Cargo Chief Executive Officer Thokozani Unyolo said that as a key player in the air freight industry, they are committed to supporting health institutions and contributing to the improvement of health infrastructure and medical equipment.

“We understand the critical role that health plays in our communities, and we are dedicated to making a positive impact. We believe that by working together with NPL, we can contribute to the well-being of the people in Kasungu,” she said.

Head of Business and Organisation at NPL, McDonald Kadewa, commended Air Cargo Malawi for the donation, saying it is a huge boost to this year’s Mothers Fun Run initiative and ongoing efforts to improve maternal health services in Kasungu.

This year’s MFR initiative targets Kasungu District Hospital and its satellite health centres.

Professor Lorrain Chiwoza Leads Malawi School of Government Sleepover Challenge for Mothers’ Fun Run

In a show of commitment to improving maternal health, the Director General of the Malawi School of Government (MSG), Professor Lorrain Chiwoza, together with members of her staff, took part in the Sleepover Challenge under the Mothers’ Fun Run initiative by Nation Publications Limited.

The team spent the night at a health facility to experience first hand the challenges expectant mothers face when accessing maternal services. Their participation demonstrates strong leadership and solidarity in supporting safe motherhood** efforts across Malawi.

Through such acts of empathy and advocacy, MSG continues to inspire others to take action in improving maternal health infrastructure and ensuring that no mother loses her life while giving birth. 💧💚

Mothers are all smiles this morning at Kasungu District Hospital as employees from Standard Bank and Infraworks Development Limited present gifts to new mothers, marking the end of their participation in the Mother's Fun Run Sleepover Challenge.

The teams handed out hampers containing items such as cooking oil, bathing and washing soap, T-shirts and wrappers.

The Sleepover Challenge offers corporate executives an opportunity to spend a night at a health facility to experience first-hand the challenges faced by expectant mothers and health workers during labour and delivery.

Through this experience, participants are inspired to mobilise resources and provide meaningful support to address some of the challenges they witness.

While in the labour ward, employees from Infraworks Development Limited taking part in the Mother's Fun Run Sleepover Challenge rushed out to assist an expectant mother who had just arrived for delivery at Kasungu District Hospital.

The patient, Agness Nyirenda said she started bleeding at 4 pm at her home at Chigogo village but could not reach the facility due to fuel issues.

The employees who are spending the night at the facility to experience the realities faced by health workers and mothers, quickly responded to support the hospital staff as part of their participation in the initiative.
