HRDC statement on the prolonged fuel crisis' "Malawi’s carbon credit potential is substantial, with an estimated value of 19.9 million metric tons of carbon credits annually, worth over $600 million. Government reports indicate that $50 million is generated monthly through carbon credit sales—a figure more than sufficient to address the forex shortfall that has fueled this crisis. Despite these funds, the government has yet to deliver relief to the people. The HRDC demands a full investigation into how the government has been handling these funds, who is responsible, and why this revenue is not being used to alleviate the fuel crisis that has crippled Malawian society."
