Muslims Youth Foundation (MYF) wish to celebrate Hendrinae Salaamah Nkhoma one of our dedicated members.

Hendrinae graduated yesterday from the University of Malawi (UNIMA) , The Polytechnic, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing.

Her programme gave her a strong foundation in how businesses operate, including areas such as management, finance, accounting and operations. She also specialised in marketing, where she gained valuable skills in market research, consumer behaviour, branding, advertising and digital marketing.

This combination has equipped her with both a broad understanding of business and practical marketing expertise that will support her in contributing meaningfully in any organisation she becomes part of.

We appreciate her contributions to the foundation and wish her all the best for the future.

Muslim Youth Foundation (MYF) has successfully handed over a newly constructed Masjid in Chinyama Village under Traditional Authority Chadzana in Lilongwe on 18 April 2026, marking an important step toward improving access to a proper place of worship for the local Muslim community.

MYF’s Director of Communications, Bright Malenga, said the project was made possible through the generous support of Penny Appeal, whose contribution has created a lasting impact in the area.

According to Malenga, the handover ceremony brought together community members, religious groups, and traditional leaders, all of whom gathered to witness and celebrate the milestone.

Speaking during the event, the Chairperson of the Masjid, Mr. Helium Kapanda, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the donors and MYF for their timely support. He shared that for many years, the community struggled to find a suitable place for prayer, and that the new Masjid will now offer comfort, dignity, and convenience to worshippers.

Senior Chief Chinyama, who was also present, welcomed the development and highlighted its significance for his community. He noted that the Masjid will help strengthen unity and bring renewed encouragement among the people.

The iERA Dawah group also attended the ceremony, reflecting the growing momentum of Islamic outreach in the area. With more people embracing Islam, the Masjid is expected to serve not only as a place of worship but also as a center for learning and guidance for both new and existing members of the faith.

Beyond daily prayers, the Masjid will play a vital role in supporting the community through religious education, community gatherings, and spiritual development. It is expected to promote unity, strengthen values, and provide a sense of belonging for residents of Chinyama Village, while also supporting continued Islamic outreach in the area.

The Muslim Youth Foundation (MYF), in partnership with the Mango Charity Fund, conducted an outreach visit to Maula Prison during this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebrations, bringing moments of joy, reflection and solidarity to Muslim inmates through the sharing of a special meal.

The initiative formed part of the two organizations’ continued efforts to promote compassion, dignity and social inclusion among vulnerable groups, particularly during significant religious occasions.

The visit served as a reminder of shared humanity and responsibility, especially during the Eid al-Fitr period. The organizations noted that Eid is a time of joy and that efforts should be made to ensure no one is excluded from its blessings, regardless of their circumstances.

The outreach benefited more than 270 Muslim inmates at the facility and aligns with MYF's broader mission of extending practical support and care to marginalized communities.

Officials at Maula Prison welcomed the gesture and commended both organizations for their continued support, noting that such interventions contribute positively to inmates’ morale and support ongoing rehabilitation and social reintegration efforts.

Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is one of the most important Islamic celebrations. It is observed after a month of fasting, prayer and self-discipline and is characterized by communal prayers, expressions of gratitude to Allah, sharing of meals, giving of charity and strengthening bonds through forgiveness and reconciliation within families and communities.

Muslim Youth Foundation (MYF), in collaboration with Mango Charity Fund, carried out a series of iftar distributions from Day 24 to Day 28 of Ramadan across different communities in Malawi.

The outreach reached several mosques in Lilongwe, Ntchisi, and Mzuzu, including Amina Mosque in Area 36 Kandikole, Nkhwidzi Mosque in Traditional Authority Malili, Ntchisi Main Mosque, Chakhoma Mosque in Area 36, and Area 1B Mosque in Mzuzu.

Well prepared meals such as rice with chicken, beef, or goat meat, along with eggs, Irish potatoes, vegetables, porridge, and dates were shared with those observing the fast.

Over the five days, the initiative supported hundreds of people, with some centres receiving more than 100 individuals at the time of breaking the fast. Beyond providing meals, the effort helped bring people together and offered support to those who may not always manage to have a proper meal during this period.

The response from the communities was very encouraging. Many expressed sincere appreciation, and in some areas, it was the first time receiving such support during Ramadan. Local religious leaders and community members thanked the MYF and its donors for the generosity and for bringing comfort and hope during the holy month.

Muslim Youth Foundation expresses its sincere gratitude to all those who contributed towards this initiative. Their support has made a real difference in the lives of many people.
