Our team at Active Youth Organization 4 Development (AYOD) is thrilled to be part of the NAFASI project, supported by Magamba Network and DefendDefenders. Under the guidance of Digital Security Consultant Charles Baduya, our team is learning vital skills to protect our data and improve our digital practices.

The energy in the room today was fantastic, with everyone—including our colleague in the wheelchair—actively participating in the practical sessions.

Championing Mental Health: Bringing Area 23's Youth Voice to the Table! 🧠💪

Today, our Executive Director had the distinct honor of representing the youth of Area 23 at the Lilongwe City Council for a pivotal deck meeting launching Youth Wave Malawi's new Sport4Mind Project.

As a youth practitioner and leader, it was an incredible opportunity to contribute our community's perspectives to this timely initiative. Mental health is often overlooked in our high-stress social and economic environments, but the Sport4Mind Project is changing that narrative.

The Goal? To strengthen mental resilience and wellbeing among young people in Lilongwe.

We are thrilled to announce that he is part of the team of 10 peer coaches selected for this pilot phase! Our mission is clear:
✅ Build safe spaces for dialogue, mentorship, and psychosocial support.
✅ Improve mental health awareness and emotional literacy among 1,200 young people.

Through city entry meetings, targeted conversations, and continuous refreshers, we are laying the groundwork for a sustainable, healthier future for our youth.

A big thank you to Youth Wave Malawi and the Lilongwe City Council for prioritizing youth mental health. To my fellow coaches and the youth of Area 23—let's get to work!
