Across the Connect, Defend, Act! (CDA!) program, communities continue to navigate increasingly difficult realities while defending dignity, participation, and hope.

In the occupied Palestinian territory, civic actors are working under the weight of war, displacement, and deep uncertainty. Yet even within these conditions, people continue to organize, care for one another, and hold onto the possibility of a different future.

Civic space class in session! 🤓

Through our Connect, Defend, Act! program — made possible with support from Norad and the Irish Embassy in Malawi — we convened a digital resilience and cybersecurity mentorship workshop for young civic actors, media practitioners, and human rights defenders in Malawi.

The session created space to engage with practical tools for online safety, protection, and emerging digital risks within civic work. Facilitated by partners from Platform for Investigative Journalism and ITES, discussions also explored existing frameworks that support and protect those working in increasingly complex digital environments.

As civic engagement continues to intersect with digital spaces, strengthening resilience is becoming an essential part of safeguarding participation and rights. We look forward to how this knowledge will be applied across the communities and organisations represented.
