As we approach the end of the semester, our farmers have been busy harvesting their fields and attending final classes. These lessons focus on post-harvest management to ensure they can effectively store and manage their crops once they leave the campus and return home.

During this period, we recognized the students who achieved exceptional results in their harvests. Thomas Banda led the maize production with an outstanding yield of 60 bags per acre. In soybean production, Joesph Saka achieved the highest yield, producing 670kgs on just a three-quarter-acre plot. Additionally, Nathan Moyo excelled as the top producer of groundnuts, harvesting 60 pails of unshelled groundnuts from a quarter-acre of land.

At SAFI, we are incredibly proud of these remarkable achievements. Our students have now witnessed firsthand a profound transformation, seeing land that once yielded only 5 bags of maize per acre scale up to an incredible 60 bags per acre.

These interventions do far more than just boost numbers on a leader board, they fundamentally change the future of farming families. By proving that sustainable techniques can multiply yields by twelve times the traditional baseline, we are helping families move away from food insecurity and toward permanent self-reliance. As these farmers return to their respective communities, they don't just return as graduates, but as local experts and living proof that strategic agricultural education can uplift entire villages and secure a more prosperous future.

Did you know that pawpaw is a true powerhouse for child health?

This naturally soft fruit is exceptional for supporting a child’s digestive system, utilizing unique enzymes (such as papain) and dietary fiber to ease digestion and smoothly prevent constipation. Beyond promoting a healthy gut, its high concentrations of Vitamin C and Vitamin A actively fortify a child's immune system against common illnesses, safeguard developing vision, and accelerate the natural healing of minor scrapes and cuts sustained during daily play.

What is stopping you from growing one pawpaw tree that can help improve your child's health?

Today, we are at Natola Secondary School visiting some of the students we support through the Educate the Children program. They are being interviewed by our BYU interns for an upcoming documentary. Beyond the filming, these visits provide us with a wonderful opportunity to motivate, inspire, and connect directly with our students.

On the spot today, we met Tiyamike Filipi, a vibrant Form Three student who shared her inspiring dream of becoming a police officer after finishing her studies. It was an incredibly moving experience to hear her speak with such passion. Knowing the solid foundation and support SAFI provides, we have no doubt that Tiyamike will live out her dream one day. Her journey highlights the vital work being done here at Natola Secondary School, where we proudly support a total of 51 students.

This initiative is vital because it bridges the gap between support and impact. Documenting these students journeys not only gives them a platform to share their voices, but it also provides our partners and sponsors with a transparent, firsthand look at how education transforms lives. Furthermore, personal mentorship visits reinforce to these young learners that they are not just statistics in a program, but valued individuals with bright futures. By pouring into them today, we are fostering the resilience they need to succeed academically and eventually drive positive change within their own communities.

Yesterday, we had the distinct honor of hosting visitors from NUskin. It was a privilege to guide them through our target communities, allowing them to witness our interventions firsthand and observe the real-world impact of our collective efforts.

A major highlight of the visit was the nutrition display, where local women proudly showcased diverse, wholesome Malawian meals prepared entirely from crops grown right here in Malawi.

Following the community tour, our guests visited the campus to meet with some of our farmers. They had the opportunity to hear firsthand stories of transformed lives and to learn more about the sustainable initiatives we promote on campus.

Seeing our partners happy and satisfied with the progress of these interventions is something we will never take for granted. We remain deeply grateful for their continued support and shared vision.
