Day one of the 2026 National Youth Summit done! The Malawi Girl Guides Association proudly showed up and had the wonderful opportunity to showcase our interventions, sharing how we continue to empower young girls and women across the nation through leadership, life skills, and community service.

It was inspiring to connect with fellow youth organizations and stakeholders all working toward a brighter future for Malawi's youth. Thank you to everyone who visited our stand and engaged with our work today! More to come as the summit continues.

We were honoured to welcome Girl Guides from the United Kingdom

Today they stopped by our Lilongwe office before visiting Mphanje School, where the children proudly showcased their creativity and innovation. They demonstrated how they make reusable plates for serving food and plastic balls from recycled plastic for play activities, as well as sewing reusable sanitary pads from fabric to support menstrual hygiene.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen international friendships, share Guiding experiences, exchange cultures, and learn from one another while celebrating the values that unite the global Guiding Movement. Together, we continue to empower girls and young women to become confident leaders and active global citizens.

Innovation, Creativity, and Problem Solving

Today, we proudly hosted the 2026 National STEM Fair, bringing together Girl Guides from 8 schools and one unit to showcase their creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills through inspiring STEM projects.

From transforming recycled materials into useful products such as plates to participating in a talk show, a fashion show, and photography for visual storytelling, the girls demonstrated that STEM is more than just learning science and technology is about creating innovative solutions that can transform communities and build a better future.

We were honoured to host Ruth Kawale, President of the Malawi Girl Guides Association as the guest of honour, whose inspiring remarks encouraged the girls to remain curious, embrace innovation, learn from every experience, and confidently pursue careers and opportunities in STEM. The engaging talk show and dedicated mentors further inspired the girls to think critically, lead with confidence, and become changemakers in their communities.

The National STEM Fair was a celebration of the incredible potential that girls have and a reminder that, when given the opportunity, they can innovate, create, and lead the way in shaping a brighter future.

🌍♻️ Together for a Cleaner and Greener Malawi!

The Malawi Girl Guides Association proudly joined the Tiyeni Environmental Green Alliance (TEGA) and Nchesi Market leaders in commemorating International Plastic Bag Free Day through a clean-up exercise and the distribution of reusable bags at Nchesi Market in Lilongwe.

We had the privilege of engaging traders, shoppers, and community members on the harmful effects of single-use plastics and the importance of choosing reusable bags to protect our environment. Every meaningful conversation, every reusable bag distributed, and every piece of litter collected brings us one step closer to a cleaner, healthier, and greener Malawi.

We remain committed to reaching more communities, raising awareness, and inspiring collective action to end plastic pollution and protect our environment for future generations.

Lucy, the International Commissioner, and Elizabeth, the Africa Region Chairperson, receiving certificates on behalf of the Malawi Girl Guides Association (MAGGA) at the World Conference.

MAGGA has been recognized for its contribution to membership growth and the expansion of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting across the Africa Region. The Association has also been recognized for its valuable participation in the Growing and Learning Part 2 consultation process and for its contribution to the development of the Growing and Learning Part 2 resource, which was undertaken between December 2025 and May 2026.
