This week, under the TEENS program, we conducted a joint monitoring visit in Balaka and Machinga districts to appreciate the impact of our interventions on the ground.
The visit brought together representatives from UNFPA, MAGGA, Youth Impact, and district stakeholders, providing a valuable opportunity to engage with communities, assess progress, and strengthen collaboration.
We are encouraged by the positive strides being made and remain committed to empowering young people and driving meaningful change

With financial support from FORUT - solidaritetsaksjon for utvikling , Today, we have successfully concluded a two day training engaging 100 in-school children and 50 youth representatives

The trainings were conducted concurrently across three zones: Ntenjera, Mpapa, and Bangwe–Naisi. Participants were equipped with knowledge on the harmful effects of alcohol and practical, effective countermeasures to address these challenges within their communities.

The sessions focused on the National Alcohol Policy (NAP) priority areas, covering key topics such as drug and alcohol prevention, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), child rights, and meaningful youth participation.

Empowering young people remains at the heart of our mission. The trained in-school children are expected to cascade this knowledge to their peers, while youth representatives will actively engage fellow youths in their respective communities.

My Growth Journey with Uganda(WAGGGS)
Dorothy Elsie Nkowani
I am a professional participant under the WAGGGS coordination team, working as a Programs Administrative Assistant. So far, my experience has been great because I am gradually becoming a person I never knew I could be, professionally.
When I first took on this role, I honestly felt like I couldn’t do it. However, through continuous learning and support from my team, I have gained the confidence to perform my tasks very well. I have learned how to write reports, develop activity packs, and monitor activities from MOs.
One of the most exciting parts of my journey has been learning how to communicate in the Luganda language. I have also enjoyed trying new food like matoke and experiencing different cultures from fellow participants from other countries.
So far, my time with WAGGGS has been incredibly enriching. I am gaining valuable experience not only professionally but also spiritually. I am truly grateful for the support from Madam Robina, who has played a big role in guiding and building us into strong, capable young women ready to work and succeed.
By the end of this once-in-a-lifetime journey, I know I will not be the same person. I will be better, stronger, and more confident.

On Saturday, the Central Region Young Leaders conducted a meaningful outreach visit to Hope House Orphan Care in Dowa District. During the visit, the team donated essential items and spent quality time engaging with the children.

The activity was attended by Central Region executive members and the YESS girls, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere. The day was marked by joy, laughter, and strong interpersonal connections, as participants took part in interactive games and recreational activities that brought smiles to the children.

In line with our commitment to youth development, a leadership session was also conducted. This session aimed to empower and inspire the children by building their confidence, nurturing their potential, and encouraging them to believe in their future.
