Today the Malawi National Youth Network on Climate Change - NYNCC is attending the High-Level Multi-Faith Leaders Convening on Strengthening Social Protection and Just Transition Pathways in Malawi, under the theme: "Strengthening Climate-Responsive Social Protection for a Just Energy Future" The convening is organized under the “Circle of Care: Faith Communities Driving Social Protection for Climate Adaptation Project” and has brought together faith leaders, grassroots community actors, policymakers, women and youth leaders, persons with disabilities (PWDs), civil society organizations, development partners, and media practitioners to strengthen collaboration on climate-responsive social protection systems, resilience building and just transition pathways in Malawi.

Climate finance is increasing. Is this encouraging news?

Development banks recently announced record levels of climate finance. While this sounds like progress, more money does not automatically mean more support for the communities on the frontlines of climate change. Too often, new climate finance flows towards large-scale investments, while those restoring ecosystems, protecting human rights and building resilience locally struggle to access the resources they need. This raises two crucial questions: are the institutions managing these funds equipped to invest in ways that benefit people and the planet? And who gets to decide how they're spent?

Applications Now Open: Youth in Leadership Innovation Challenge

UNDP Malawi, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture - Malawi is inviting District Councils across Malawi to participate in the Youth in Leadership Innovation Challenge, a national initiative that empowers young people to develop innovative solutions to local development challenges.
Selected youth teams will receive training, mentorship, and the opportunity to access up to US$20,000 to implement winning projects. The challenge focuses on:
✅ Citizen-Centred Service Delivery
✅ Youth Participation & Accountability
District Councils are encouraged to identify and mentor teams of 5–8 young people to develop practical, high-impact solutions for their communities.
