On 2nd April, Maphunziro Movement Trust participated in an interactive engagement with MANASO Malawi, focusing on key youth issues such as HIV prevention, access to PrEP and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
The discussion revealed that while some young people are aware of PrEP and motivated to protect themselves, many still lack accurate information.

Challenges like stigma, misinformation, fear of being perceived as HIV positive, and cultural or religious barriers continue to limit access to PREP intake. We emphasized the need for increased community awareness, youth-friendly spaces and supportive, non-judgmental health services to empower young people and reduce their vulnerability to HIV.

Today, 3rd March, we commemorate Martyrs' Day 🇲🇼

As we remember the heroes who sacrificed their lives for Malawi’s freedom, we reflect on the power of education in protecting and advancing that freedom. The greatest way we can honor their legacy is by building a knowledgeable generation — learners who understand their history, value unity, and contribute meaningfully to national development.

At Maphunziro Movement Trust, we believe education is a tool for empowerment and transformation. Through quality learning and youth development, we continue the journey our heroes began.

Let us shape minds. Let us build the nation.

Today we had the privilege of hosting visitors at Maphunziro Movement Trust from the District Youth Office Lilongwe Rural (Mr. Peter Beni), Ntchisi District Youth Office (Mr. Grey Kalampa), and Farm Radio Trust.

We were joined by vibrant youths from different clubs under T/A Malili (Chinsapo Urban), where we held a productive discussion on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The youths identified key challenges, proposed planned interventions, outlined IEC strategies, and developed key messages to drive awareness in their communities.

Together, we continue empowering young people to lead positive change.

Finally Done – Day 5, School 6

The Maphunziro Ndine initiative came to an end today at Kakule Primary School, where 217 learners were motivated and inspired. Our guest speaker, Yohane Chikamvubwa, emphasized the importance of focusing on both subjects learners are doing well in and those they find challenging. He encouraged learners to stay committed to their education through consistent reading and problem-solving.

Yohane also spoke about the importance of good morals at both home and school, reminding learners that discipline and focus go hand in hand with academic success. As he said, “Everyone has the capacity to do well; it all begins with you making that choice.”

Day 4 | School 5

Friday is done.
Another day to motivate a learner.

This week, we have concluded our Maphunziro Ndine initiative with Phuti Primary School, a typical rural school with 30 Standard 8 learners. The session was led by our Finance and Administration Officer, who shared her personal journey of being raised by a stepmother and how she stayed motivated to work hard, ultimately being selected to a national secondary school. She also discussed learner behaviors, study habits, the importance of listening to and respecting their teachers, and staying focused, inspiring the learners to believe in themselves and remain committed to their education. This effort continues to contribute to Malawi Vision 2063 through access to quality education for all.

Never getting tired of our visiona and mision
Another day to motivate a learner.

We are currently at Phuti Primary School, a typical rural school in traditional authority Malili with 30 standard 8 learners , where the Maphunziro ndine initiative is in progress. We are engaging and motivating learners to believe in themselves, remain focused on their studies, and recognize education as a pathway to success as they prepare for their Primary School Leaving Certificate examinations—contributing to Malawi Vision 2063 through access to quality education for all.

Final Act of the Day | Day 3

We are thrilled to announce that today, as part of the Maphunziro Ndine initiative, we sealed a partnership with Chemical Plus Company in Area 2! Through this support, less privileged primary school learners in some of the schools in the MMT catchment area of Traditional Authority Malili will receive much-needed learning materials, including exercise books and ballpens, in line with Malawi Vision 2063 – Access to quality education for all.

The vision of Maphunziro Ndine is being embraced by many, and today’s milestone reminds us that together, we can create an empowered and knowledgeable community.

(In the pictures: our Executive Director, Mr. Robert Chimtolo, receiving a cheque from Chemical Plus accountant, Mr. Philip Chitimbe. Also present is MMT Finance and Administration Officer, Aesnat Msekeleza Chisale, and another picture showing the meeting in progress.)

Day 3 | School 4 – Ngowe Primary School (Afternoon Session)

In the afternoon of Day 3 of the Maphunziro Ndine initiative at Ngowe Primary School, Executive Director Robert Chimtolo reminded learners that “sayenda anabereka mwana anayenda”—every journey begins with a single step. He emphasized that every goal, no matter how big, starts with a small, deliberate action. Learners were encouraged to understand themselves first, as self-awareness leads to better choices in education and in life. The session motivated learners to take responsibility for their future, one step at a time.
