Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Northern Malawi, Dr. Fanuel Magangani, has called for a mindset change among Anglican Christians on Likoma and Chizumulu Islands, saying the growth of the diocese requires greater responsibility from the faithful.

Magangani made said this during his farewell service at St. Peter’s Anglican Cathedral on Likoma Island today.

He said during his 17 years as bishop, Christians have often looked to church leaders to drive development, but it is now time for the faithful to focus on what they can do to contribute to the growth of the diocese.

Magangani said he is confident that the diocese will continue to move forward if Christians remain united and take responsibility for its development.

Meanwhile, the newly installed Vicar General, Canon Brighton Chitowe, has commended Magangani for his contribution to the growth of the church during his tenure.

Chitowe said Magangani will be remembered for his contribution to ministerial growth and other developments in the diocese.

Plastic Free July is important because it shows that even small changes in our daily habits can make a big difference. Choosing to use less plastic helps protect our environment, reduce waste, and keep our rivers, lakes and communities cleaner for everyone. It also reminds us that we all have a part to play in caring for the planet.
