As we continue with our routine meetings with the s*x worker network, we are intensifying our capacity-building efforts to bridge the knowledge gap and strengthen their advocacy skills. At the same time, we are incorporating the valuable recommendations provided by officials from the DHO, District Council and CSOs to ensure our approach is well-informed and strategic.

The commitment and enthusiasm shown by the s*x workers have been inspiring. They remain eager to learn, engage and push the advocacy agenda forward. With every meeting, their confidence continues to grow, and so does their ability to effectively articulate the issues affecting their lives and communities.

Together, we are laying a strong foundation for meaningful engagement with decision makers and sustained advocacy for improved access to s*xual and reproductive health services and legal reform.

We held a powerful s*x-worker–led engagement meeting in Thyolo with the DHO, District Council officials from gender, social welfare and youth, together with CSOs working within SRHR. The discussions were frank, solution-driven and focused on strengthening our advocacy path.

Several key points came out strongly. First, there is a need to bridge the knowledge gap by building the capacity of s*x workers so they can advocate with confidence and a clear understanding of the laws affecting them. Secondly, the group highlighted the importance of defining a strong and specific angle for addressing abortion-related issues rather than approaching the topic in a general way.

We also agreed that engaging religious leaders and chiefs is essential because these influential voices can drive community-level mindset change. On top of that, we need to understand the cost-benefit implications of policy reform, particularly how amending abortion laws would affect the national budget.

Together, these insights will shape our advocacy agenda as we move forward to engage decision makers. The momentum is growing and we are committed to walking this journey with the s*x-worker network and all supportive stakeholders.

Our little ones looking smart in their white and gray uniforms🔥🔥 We appreciate all the parents who are making an effort to provide a school uniform for their child at their own pace. Very soon all our kids will look just as smart.

Today we appreciate Daveson Tommy, fondly known as Ahedi, one of our outstanding ECD interns. His hard work, dedication and leadership have played a huge role in shaping our Early Childhood Development program.

Ahedi is a passionate and considerate caregiver who brings both creativity and heart into the classroom. He also leads the team in making play materials using locally available resources, turning simple items into wonderful learning tools for our little ones.

His consistency and commitment make him a true asset to the ECD centre and to Abwenzi 360 as a whole. We treasure you, Ahedi. Keep shining.

Our advocacy efforts are steadily gaining ground as we now have the Thyolo District Health Office on board. We facilitated an engagement meeting where s*x workers led the discussion and presented the challenges they face, especially around the restrictive abortion laws that limit their access to safe services.

The Thyolo DHO listened attentively and pledged their support for the advocacy. They also suggested introducing a control mechanism within the Termination of Pregnancy (ToP) Bill to ensure order and accountability as the law evolves.

This level of collaboration shows real progress. We will continue creating platforms where s*x workers can speak for themselves and shape the changes that directly affect their lives.

After meeting with the Nsanje DHO, we continued our advocacy journey by engaging District Council officials and SRHR-focused CSOs. The goal was simple to gather their support, learn from their expertise and explore how we can collectively advance our advocacy agenda.

This effort has now resulted in a strong coalition made up of s*x workers, the district hospital, the district council and CSOs. Each group brings unique experience and knowledge, which will help us share ideas, speak with one voice and engage more stakeholders all the way up to key decision makers as we work toward meaningful policy change.

We also brought the media on board to document our progress and ensure these conversations reach a wider audience. This is a powerful step forward and we are committed to keeping the momentum.
