Let's talk about Substance Abuse & Mental Health

The connection is real. The cycle can be difficult to break.

Substance abuse and mental health can affect each other:

Substances can worsen mental health — drugs and alcohol may increase anxiety, depression, paranoia, or other emotional difficulties.

Mental health struggles can lead to substance use — some people may use drugs or alcohol to cope with stress, trauma, sadness, or emotional pain.

One can reinforce the other — substance use may provide temporary relief but can create more problems over time, making mental health challenges harder to manage.

Remember: Asking for help is not a weakness. Recovery is possible, and support can make a difference.
