Background
Chilomoni Youth Community Based Organization (CYCOBO) was formed by a number of young people based in Chilomoni. The group was formed in 2014 and it aims at creating suitable environment for orphans, young people and the community members at large in Chilomoni where everyone can be able to have dreams, believe in their dreams and achieve their dreams. We dream, we be
lieve, we achieve is the motto of our group and we want the Chilomoni community to join us in changing the community. The founders of the organization saw that many youths in the community are usually on the wrong tract of life in the sense that most do not go further with their education some because they do not have resources and most of them due to lack of guidance and motivation. Most of the youths are involved in alcohol and substance abuse, prostitution or even worse (theft and burglary). It has been found out that most of the communities’ youth drop out of schools as early as primary school even before they acquire primary school leaving certificate. It was also found out that there are a lot of early pregnancies, early marriages and the rate of HIV/AIDS contraction is on the rise among the youth in the community. It also came to the attention of the founders of the group that the environment and sanitation condition of the community s pathetic such that water and sanitation related diseases never give a break to the community members. It is our aim that all the identified problems and other problems that may arise due to the already existing ones are solved and that sustainable solutions are found and put in place so that the community realizes its full potential and live according to that potential from individual level to community level to ensure sustainable development in all aspects of life. Our vision is “a community whereby everyone realizes his or her full potential in all aspects of life for sustainable development.”
