Malawi, a landlocked gem in Southern Africa, grapples with the harsh realities of climate change, facing devastating disasters year after year 🌪️.

World Food Programme Malawi

Malawi is facing the devastating impact of heavy rains and localized flooding, affecting at least 9,700 households and displacing families from their homes. Lives have been lost, and many more have lost their belongings and livelihoods.

This emergency comes at a critical time, as the country is reeling from the 2025-2026 lean season, with 4 million people facing crisis levels of hunger.

WFP is working closely with the Government, through Department of Disaster Management Affairs, to provide urgent food assistance and emergency relief items to affected communities.

But the needs are growing and we cannot do this alone. We urgently call on donors and partners to support life-saving assistance and help families recover from yet another climate shock.
