Under the Gender Transformative and Youth Inclusive Democracy Project, implemented by WOLREC in partnership with Oxfam in Malawi with support from the European Union, leadership and assertiveness training is being delivered to youth, women and persons with disabilities elected into ADC and VDC structures across Rumphi District.

The initiative targets 31 Area Development Committees, with 10 already equipped with skills in leadership, governance, accountability, participatory planning, financial management, resource mobilisation, and gender, youth and social inclusion.

The training is already yielding results, with committees acknowledging gaps in past inclusive planning and committing to strengthen participation of women, youth and persons with disabilities in accessing the CDF, shaping development priorities and enhancing accountability.

As part of strengthening the multi-sectoral response to Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) in Malawi, we are conducting the Gender Transformative Curriculum (GTC) training for service providers, under the Pamodzi Kuthetsa Nkhanza Programme. The training equips participants — including Social Welfare officers, healthcare workers, police, and the judiciary — with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to deliver more effective, survivor-centred responses to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and IPV.
