ABOUT US
“Umunthu” roughly translates as “I am because you are “. It is an ancient African humanist philosophy meaning 'humanity to others’- focusing on people’s allegiances and relations with each other. Umunthu Foundation (UMUFO) is a human rights and HIV/AIDS Non-governmental organization (NGO) operating 3 HIV testing and ART (treatment) Clinics 2 at government Public Health Centres in Bangwe and Limbe and 1 at its headquarters in Bangwe in Blantyre, Malawi.
Founded in 2004 in a response to complement with the government efforts in addressing the HIV/AIDS and Gender Based Violence challenges. It was then registered with the Government of Malawi under the Trustees Incorporation Act in October, 2006.
