Youth are central to achieving a truly inclusive Energy Just Transition. But what does meaningful youth involvement look like if young people are not aware of the policies guiding the sector?

On 25 April 2026, Mthunzi Trust participated in an Energy Ownership and People-Centered Just Transition Workshop organized by the African Climate Alliance at the Malawi Assemblies of God University.

The workshop was an eye-opener. A guest of honor from the National Youth Council of Malawi emphasized the importance of youth understanding policy frameworks in order to actively and effectively participate in energy and climate discussions. This message strongly resonated with us.

At Mthunzi Trust, we remain grateful to the African Climate Alliance, through its ambassadors in Malawi, for consistently creating platforms that amplify youth voices on issues of national importance.

As a youth-led organization, we see this as highly relevant to our work and to the broader development of our nation. Strengthening youth awareness and participation in policy spaces is not optional it is essential for a just and sustainable future.
