🐶 Shelter Dog Monday!

Meet our latest rescue - Fry! ❤️

Fry was abandoned when his owners moved away, and was found with wire wrapped around his leg where he had been tied.

After everything he has been through, it’s understandable that Fry is still mistrustful of people. But fast forward a few weeks, and he is recovering really well at our centre. His leg wound is almost completely healed, and he is slowly adjusting to his new surroundings and learning to trust people again.

Fry still has a way to go with his rehabilitation, so we’re looking for a calm, patient owner who is willing to give him the time and space he needs to build his confidence.

Despite his difficult start, Fry is a happy and playful boy, and he’s already showing us that he enjoys the company of other dogs too! 🐾

If you’re interested in giving this sweet boy a second chance, come and meet Fry!

30km for the BSPCA 🐾❤️

At just 6 years old, this little animal lover decided she wanted to do something special to help the animals at the BSPCA.

Isimbi asked friends and family to sponsor her to complete a 30km walk into Nyika National Park- and she did it! 🥾💪

Thanks to her determination and the incredible generosity of everyone who sponsored her, she has raised an amazing 585,000 MWK for the clinic and shelter🎉

We are so proud of her for turning a challenge into something that will make a real difference to animals in need.

A huge thank you to Isimbi and to everyone who supported her walk. What an incredible achievement at just six years old! ❤️🐶🐱

Thank you for helping her make a difference. 🐾

Shelter Dog Monday 🐾❤️

Meet our newest rescue- Poppy

Poppy was recently surrendered to our care after his owners could no longer look after him. Sadly, he arrived with a TVT (transmissible venereal tumour), but the good news is that this is a highly treatable condition. He will soon begin chemotherapy treatment, and we are confident that he will make a full recovery. 💪❤️

Despite everything he has been through, Poppy is an incredibly lovely and happy boy. He has already shown us just how calm and gentle he is, taking every new situation in his stride.

He has recently completed his vaccinations and today enjoyed his first walk with the shelter team! 🐕 He did brilliantly and got along wonderfully with our other dogs. 😊

Now all Poppy needs is a family of his own. 🏡❤️

If you’re interested in adopting Poppy, come and meet him today! He would love to meet you. 🐾

🐾 Join us for our webinar on Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumours (TVTs) in Malawi 🇲🇼

Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumours (TVTs) are one of the most common cancers seen in free-roaming dogs. In this webinar, we’ll explore the biology of TVTs, how the disease is transmitted, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and the challenges of managing affected dogs in low-resource settings.

We’ll also share the experience of the BSPCA/WVS Malawi Clinic, where hundreds of dogs with TVTs have been treated through our community outreach programme.

Our team will discuss:
🐶 Treatment protocols and chemotherapy in the field
💉 Practical approaches to managing large caseloads
📋 Patient monitoring and treatment outcomes
🌍 Challenges and lessons learned from working in a low-resource setting

The session is aimed at veterinarians, veterinary students, and animal welfare professionals interested in improving the diagnosis and treatment of TVTs in similar settings.
