🐾 Join us for our webinar on Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumours (TVTs) in Malawi 🇲🇼

Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumours (TVTs) are one of the most common cancers seen in free-roaming dogs. In this webinar, we’ll explore the biology of TVTs, how the disease is transmitted, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and the challenges of managing affected dogs in low-resource settings.

We’ll also share the experience of the BSPCA/WVS Malawi Clinic, where hundreds of dogs with TVTs have been treated through our community outreach programme.

Our team will discuss:
🐶 Treatment protocols and chemotherapy in the field
💉 Practical approaches to managing large caseloads
📋 Patient monitoring and treatment outcomes
🌍 Challenges and lessons learned from working in a low-resource setting

The session is aimed at veterinarians, veterinary students, and animal welfare professionals interested in improving the diagnosis and treatment of TVTs in similar settings.

Shelter Dog Monday 🐶

Earlier this year, Khushi was rescued after being found with a large TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumour), a sexually transmitted cancer that is sadly very common in free-roaming dogs.

Thanks to several months of chemotherapy and dedicated care, we’re delighted to share that Khushi is now cancer-free! 💪✨

Through everything she has been the sweetest girl, with a gentle nature and a huge love for people. She truly deserves a second chance at happiness.
Now that she is healthy, strong, and ready for her next chapter, we’re hoping to find Khushi the loving forever home she deserves. 🏡❤️

Meet Carla- our brave little three-legged girl 💛

Rescued as a tiny kitten with a severely broken leg, Carla had to undergo an amputation. Seven months later, she’s thriving — full of love, energy, and personality. She adores attention, loves to play, and has formed sweet bonds with everyone at the shelter.

But despite all this, Carla is still waiting… and we can’t understand why.

She may have three legs, but she has so much love to give. All she’s missing is a place to call home and a family to call her own.

Shelter Dog Monday 🐶🐾

Poor Max was returned to our shelter a few months ago after finally finding a loving home. Sadly, his owner passed away, leaving him looking for a family once again. 😢

Max is a very special boy with the sweetest personality. He is incredibly loving, playful, and would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to keep him company and share his adventures with.
As a puppy, Max suffered a badly broken jaw that unfortunately couldn’t be fully realigned. It left him with his wonderfully goofy smile- that we think only adds to his charm😊
Max has already experienced the love of a home, and we would love nothing more than to see him get a second chance at happiness.

Shelter Dog Monday 🐶❤️

Meet Bruce and Jeep - two incredible dogs looking for their forever home together.

When Bruce and Jeep first arrived at our clinic, neither was expected to survive. Bruce was suffering from a severe tick-borne disease, while Jeep was fighting distemper. Both were critically ill and needed intensive treatment, care, and lots of love..

Day by day, they proved just how strong they are. Thanks to the dedication of our veterinary team and their amazing fighting spirits, both dogs made a remarkable recovery❤️

Although they arrived separately and had never met before, they quickly became inseparable. They play together, sleep together, and bring each other comfort and confidence every day. Their friendship is truly something special. 🐾
Now, all that’s missing is a loving family to give them the happy ending they deserve. We would love for Bruce and Jeep to be adopted together so they can continue their journey side by side.

Shelter Cat Tuesday 🐱

Meet our latest rescue, Zikuteka (Zeek) ❤️

Zeek was abandoned by her owners after she became sick and they could no longer care for her. When she arrived at our shelter, she was weak, lethargic, and unable to stand.

Thanks to lots of love, dedicated care, and the right treatment, Zeek made an incredible recovery. ✨

Now fully vaccinated, she’s thriving! She loves running around the shelter, gets along wonderfully with the other cats, and at less than a year old, she’s full of playful energy and curiosity.

Now all that’s missing is a family to call her own. 🏡
