Interference of Political and Traditional Leaders in Voter Registration Process for By Elections. This problem has been there since 2019 and poses a big threat for 2025 Malawi General Elections.

Find attached statement that gives details regarding an arrest effected by the Police yesterday for village headman Mbamba and his secretary from TA Chowe in Mangochi for possessing national IDs not belonging to them. This incidence happened outside the parameter of the registration centre and did not affect voter registration in any way.

The two have given caution statement to the police that they were compiling a list of agriculture input programme beneficiaries. This has been corroborated by the senior chief and agriculture officials from the area.
