Project Update

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the EKOenergy ecolabel funded project that has electrified 4 rural primary schools in Thyolo & Chiradzulo districts. Solar water pumping systems have also been installed and students will now have access to clean drinking water and electricity to enable them to continue studying even after dark.

In 2 of the schools, one in each district we also constructed energy kiosks which will now offer services such as phone charging, barber services, just to mention a few.

We believe that this project will change the lives of the people in those schools and communities as it opens up new opportunities that are only possible with access to energy.

Once again we sincerely thank EKOenergy ecolabel for supporting the communities that we serve

We will continue to share updates and pictures of how the project will impact the communities

MESCH Project being implemented at Mwanza district hospital is also coming together. we expect the Solar to Hydrogen system to be commissioned in the next few weeks and start providing clean hydrogen for cooking in the newly constructed guardian shelter. Our partners in this project Loughborough University Monbat Ultima Forma INFLOW and CBI are busy onsite with the installation.

Stay tuned to see how solar energy can be used to produce Hydrogen for cooking, replacing firewood.

This project has been made possible with funding from Innovate UK

Another Friday signals the end to a week!

Over the past 2 weeks our team has been busy implementing the EKOenergy ecolabel funded project that will install solar powered water systems and electricity in 4 schools in rural Malawi. Work on the sites began with geophysical surveys to identify where to drill the boreholes around the schools. Thereafter borehole drilling began and all schools now have boreholes that have sufficient underground water to support solar pumping systems; except for one school Machereni Primary School where despite 2 drilling attempts yielded dry boreholes although the geophysical survey reports indicate availability of underground water. We are still exploring alternative solutions with our contractor.

Work is in progress to complete construction of the 2 solar kiosks and our electrical team has been busy in all 4 schools wiring the classroom blocks in preparation for solar panel installation in the weeks ahead.

The communities are excited and are looking forward to having their schools electrified and supplied with clean drinking water!!! All this is possible because of the funding made available by EKOenergy ecolabel

Time to recharge our batteries over the weekend!

We had a very busy and productive week that saw us visiting all 4 beneficiary schools for our newly funded project that will see these schools being electrified with solar power and 2 of the schools will have energy kiosks constructed to serve the surrounding communities. All schools will also have solar powered water systems installed. All this is possible with grant funding of €59,995 from EKOenergy ecolabel

We will keep updating you so please like and share our page and keep checking for updates.

Happy weekend

Yesterday the Weekend Nation newspaper had an article on our recently implemented EKOenergy ecolabel funded project that has brought smiles and joy in Namachila village using Solar Power.

We are thankful to EKO energy and everyone who contributed to the success of this project.

Look out for a project video tomorrow!

What a week we've had!

Over the past week we attended some meetings with key stakeholders for the Innovate UK funded MECH Project that will see Mwanza District Hospital piloting an innovative Hydrogen Cooking technology in a few months time.

We also started preparing for 2025 projects by conducting community consultative meetings in Thyolo and Chiradzulo districts to understand the needs of the communities as we design our next phase of project proposals.

The highlight was on Friday when, despite heavy rain, we officially opened the energy kiosk at Namachila village in T/A Bvumbwe. This project constructed a solar powered energy kiosk in a village located some 5 kilometers away from the national grid. The solar energy kiosk is now offering phone charging services, barber services, cold drinks, solar lamp sales and many more services and products in the pipeline. Most importantly the kiosk is also providing electricity to power a borehole pump that supplies water to the school and the surrounding community. The neighbouring school and nursery school have both been electrified and students can now learn and study even after dark.

This project is one that has given us great satisfaction as it has positively transformed the lives of the community and students in an impactful way. We will be sharing a video this coming week with some of the poems, songs, and messages from the.community as they expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to EKOenergy ecolabel who funded this project.

Stay tuned and have a happy weekend

First Post of 2025!

We hope you are all having a great start to 2025! A lot has been going on here at RENAMA behind the scenes and we will be sharing with you some updates and plans for the year ahead.

Last week Friday, we were scheduled to have the official opening of the EKOenergy ecolabelfunded Energy Kiosk in T/A Bvumbwe after the last opening ceremony was cancelled in December as the Ministry of Education had ordered all schools to close as a safety measure against cyclone chido that was predicted to hit southern part of Malawi.

Last Friday, all was set and all guests were ready and again we had a heavy downpour in T/A Bvumbwe which again forced us to postpone the ceremony to this coming Friday 31st January 2025. 🥲🥲

Everyone in the community is excited about this ceremony and we are confident that it will be a huge success this Friday. The weather experts are predicting clear skies, so we are keeping our toes & fingers crossed.

We would like to thank our partners EKOenergy ecolabel for making this project possible.
