PRESS STATEMENT
30TH December, 2025
MRA INTENTION TO AWARD CONTRACTS TO PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANIES
FDRD has followed the debate, concerns and public panic over the intention of Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) to award provision of security services contract to three companies I.e. Masters Security Services, KAMU Guard Security Services and Iringa Security Services published in the newspapers on 26th December, 2025
After engaging with MRA authorities, FDRD, welcomes the Malawi Revenue Authority's (MRA) decision to enhance security measures. Hiring a security company owned by a cabinet minister can be beneficial if done transparently and with accountability. FDRD is satisfied with the due process undertaken.
We urge MRA and the government to ensure the contract is awarded through a fair process, with clear terms and performance metrics. The arrangement must prioritize revenue protection and public interest.
We support measures that strengthen revenue collection and commend MRA for proactive steps. Transparency in this process will build public trust.
We are appealing to all Malawians with reservation, to write MRA within the stipulated time line of 21days rather than expressing their concerns in social media in order to bring confusion to the general public. We believe that can MRA will take into consideration any matter that is relevant.
Signed
