The Police found her naked as a mob was about to set her on fire after accusing her of witchcraft.

Police in Nsanje District would like to inform the general public that they are keeping an elderly woman whose home of origin has not yet been established.

On October 17, 2025, during the early hours of the morning, Fatima Police received information that an elderly woman, estimated to be between 60 and 70 years old and of African descent, had been found naked in Chomboto Village, Traditional Authority Mlolo, in Nsanje District.

A mob had accused her of witchcraft and was about to set her on fire when police officers from Fatima swiftly intervened and rescued her. She is currently being kept safely at Fatima Police Unit as efforts to trace her relatives and repatriate her to her original home continue.

Due to her difficulties in verbal communication, police have found it challenging to establish her identity or locate her relatives. Therefore, Police are appealing to members of the public who may recognize the woman in the attached photograph to contact Fatima Police or the nearest police formation for identification and further assistance.

DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT

The staff and Management of Vision for Development Youth Organization. Would like to inform you about the death of One of the Tailoring Instructor Innocent Mponda. Mponda went missing on Sunday at Bvumbwe trading Centre after attending Campaign events with the Director of this institution. His body found today at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre after police investigation.

Police in Balaka have arrested a 30-year-old woman for allegedly having sexual in*******se with a 15-year-old male child.

The woman, identified as Eluby Magaleta, is suspected to have committed the offence between June 22 to June 24, 2025 during day light at Kaliati Trading Centre in Balaka District.

Police report indicates that the victim who is of unsound mind (name withheld) and a Standard 3 learner told her mother that between June 22 and June 24, 2025 as he (victim) was coming from the market and passing by the suspect's who called him and forced him into her house where she used sign language to communicate with the victim.

The suspect then removed all her clothes and she forced the victim to put his manhood on her private part while she bend down.

The victim did as per orders and having done this, the victim because afraid that he did not reveal it to anyone.

Two days later, the suspect called the victim in the presence of her mother but the victim denied and it was this time when he revealed to her mother what happened.

The matter was reported to Police on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 who made a follow up and managed to arrest the suspect on allegation that she r***d a boy of mental illness.

The suspect, Eluby Magaleta, who comes from Masese Village in Traditional Authority Mbera in Balaka District, will appear before court soon to answer a charge of having sexual in*******se with a male child.
