Today Kenneth Kachingwe Jnr turned 10 years old. Our Chairperson, Pemphero Mphande visited him in Zomba today to celebrate with him. Last year we sent Ken to India for a spine surgery. He is still unwell and in pain but God is being faithful. Keep praying for his healing. Happy birthday Ken!

Join us in wishing Paisleigh Maliro a happy sixth birthday. Over two years ago in 2023, we raised 1.5 million kwacha for Paisleigh to go to South Korea for a heart surgery. She had a successful surgery and she is now healthy and happy. Her dad texted to let us know that today is her birthday. We thank you all who supported her and we pray that she lives long ❤️

We have received MK1,000,000 from Don Khija Mwanje Pc,a Malawian entrepreneur based in the UK. On 24th October, he celebrated his birthday and as part of the celebrations, he would like to help those in need. He has asked us to identify people in need. Faith had the operation on Thursday, 23 October. She had an open heart surgery. It is our hope that Faith will be healed and she can come back home to a healthy, happy and energetic kid. And that she can return to school and excel. May God bless you all that supported her in raising over 17 million kwacha for her🙏🏿

We are pleased to share that Faith Chunga arrived in India on 20 October at Amrita hospital where she will have an open heart surgery. We closed her fundraising on 22 July after raising 17.6 million. But due to forex issues her trip was delayed. Thank you all for your support. Pray for her so that she can have a successful surgery. May God bless you all🙏

Update:

We are pleased to announce that Faith Chunga will be departing from Malawi to India on 19 October 2025. She will be traveling to Amrita Hospital, where she will undergo a life-changing heart surgery.

Earlier this year, we shared the story of 10-year-old Faith Chunga from Kasitu, Nkhotakota, a brave little girl living with Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart condition that makes it difficult for her to breathe and walk long distances. Her story touched so many hearts, and together, we united to bring hope to Faith and her family.

Following the successful closure of the fundraiser on 22nd July 2025, a total of MK17,608,000 (approximately USD 9,460) was raised to support Faith’s surgery and travel to India. After the fundraiser, we began arranging her medical treatment and travel logistics. Along the way, we experienced a few delays due to the scarcity of forex in the country, which affected payments for hospital bills, air tickets, and visa processing.

We are pleased to share that these challenges have now been resolved. Hospital payments have been completed, Faith’s visa has been approved, and most travel arrangements have been finalized. We’re now working on just a few remaining details before her departure.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who prayed, donated, shared, and supported Faith’s journey in any way. Your kindness continues to make a difference , giving her a real chance at a healthier and brighter future.

Please continue to keep Faith and her mother in your prayers as they prepare for the journey ahead. We’ll share more updates once she arrives in India and begins treatment.

Special Announcement

We closed the 2024 short story competition under the Literary prize in January, 2025. Unfortunately, we had a technical problem. Some people were unable to submit and some data was lost. This set us several steps backwards. We have managed to recover all lost data and we have reopened call for stories. We will open for 2 weeks from 2 October to 16 October, 2025. New entrants who did not attempt to submit previously can do so now.

This year’s competition has diversified into a further category, the Primary School category. We believe in nurturing talent and we hope that through this, we can unearth great
future writers. This year’s competition is also sponsored by Kings Foundation Schools, one of the leading educational institutions in Malawi with MK15,000,000.
