MALAWI LAW SOCIETY CALLS FOR THE RESPECT OF THE LAW BY CANDIDATES AND POLITICAL PARTIES AS THE MALAWI ELECTORAL COMMISSION PROCESSES ELECTION RESULTS

The Malawi Law Society has issued calling upon candidates and political parties to respect the law and allow the Malawi Electoral Commission to process, determine, and publish the 2025 general election results according to law.

REFLECTIONS ON THREE DECADES OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF MALAWI, 26-27 May, 2025.

It has been an insightful two days of sharing reviews on the strengths and shortcomings of the constitution in relation to emerging issues affecting Malawi and its citizens.

The papers shared ranged from analyzing Malawi's Constitution on its provision of fundamental human rights, the role played in upholding a democratic dispensation, bridging the socioeconomic divide, issues of immunity, and emerging issues of technology and cybersecurity.

The conference has set the stage for continued conversations on how to uphold the constitution and use it as a tool to advance the development of the people of Malawi.

The conference brought together legal experts, academicians, civil society organization representatives, economists, and archive experts to share thoughts on the Republican Constitution since its adoption in 1994.
