Developing Children to Protect Themselves - Child Participation

It it crucial to bear in mind that given that some forms of abuse may be hidden and children may be powerless to voice them, then the ultimate recourse in child protection is to empower children to protect themselves. All efforts should go towards building the capacities of children to:-

Know their rights
Understand what constitutes child abuse
Avoid situations of child abuse
Know what to do in case of child abuse
Know where and how to seek help when child abuse takes place
