Today, our Executive Committee members met with the Addu Meedhoo Council to introduce our recently awarded Maldives Resilient Reef Ecosystems and Economy for the Future (RREEF) Programme – GFCR Small Grant.

Through this grant, Nalafehi Meedhoo is implementing the ‘vaafah’ project to convert washed-up seagrass into organic fertilizer, transforming a natural byproduct into a valuable resource that benefits both our environment and our community.

As a token of appreciation and to promote sustainable practices, we also presented the Council with refillable water bottles.

We are incredibly excited to embark on this project to transform washed-up seagrass into organic fertilizer, turning waste to wealth.

Through this initiative, we hope to create lasting positive impacts for both the environment and local livelihoods by promoting sustainable practices, supporting local food production, and raising awareness about the importance of seagrass ecosystems.

We look forward to working together with our partners and community members to make this vision a reality.
