Member of International Surfing Association, ASF, Maldives National Sports Council and Maldives Olympic Committee. The Maldives Surfing Association (MSA) is a member of the International Surfing Association (ISA) and is recognised as the National Governing Body (NGB) for surfing in the Maldives and all its waveriding disciplines, including Bodyboard, Kneeboard, Longboard, Standup Paddle Board (SUP
) and Bodysurf by the Maldives National Sports Council (NSC). MSA also gained Maldives Olympic Committee's full membership in the year 2008 as a non-olympic sport, but in the year, 2016 after surfing was officially announced as an olympic sport during RIO2016, MSA gained Olympic Sport membership in the MOC. MSA was formed on the 23rd of October 2000 with an aim to responsibly develop, sustain and promote surfing and its culture throughout the Maldives.
