A Bridge Between Faiths: An Unexpected Encounter on 2024

In the vibrant multicultural tapestry of the tourism and service industry in Hulhumale, we met a Filipino Christian woman whose initial hesitation blossomed into curiosity. Her initial reluctance to accept the Quran, stemming from a place of deep respect for her own faith, touched us with its sincerity.

We seized this moment to highlight the common threads between our faiths, emphasizing Islam's reverence for Jesus and Mary (peace be upon them both). As we gently turned the pages to Chapter 19, Surah Maryam, we watched her eyes widen with intrigue.

The familiar names and stories, presented in a new light, sparked a visible shift in her demeanor. Her reluctance melted away, replaced by an eagerness to explore these shared narratives from a different perspective.

With a warm smile, she accepted the English translation of the Quran, promising to delve into its pages during her quiet moments. We parted ways filled with hope - not for conversion, but for understanding.

Our wish for her is simple: may she find enlightenment in the detailed accounts of Mary and Jesus within the Quran. May this book serve as a bridge, fostering interfaith dialogue and mutual respect.

This encounter reminds us that holy books are not barriers, but gateways to understanding. In sharing translations of the Quran, we open doors to compassion, knowledge, and the beautiful realization that our faiths, though different, share common roots of love and devotion.

You might be wondering why she is wearing our tshirt?

At our dawah event during in the Maldives, an intriguing encounter unfolded. An expat café worker, not yet Muslim, approached us with genuine interest in our t-shirts. Her curiosity sparked a meaningful exchange.

We offered her our last remaining t-shirt with a gentle proposition: accept an English translation of the Quran and commit to reading it in her spare time. Without hesitation, she agreed, her eyes lighting up at both gifts.

As we concluded our event later at dusk, a heartwarming sight caught our attention. There she was, having changed out of her work uniform, proudly wearing our event t-shirt. This simple act spoke volumes about her openness and willingness to explore and learn.

We hope this marks the beginning of a beautiful journey for her - one where she discovers the wisdom and peace within the Quran's pages. May she find as much joy and meaning in its words as she did in our humble t-shirt.

This encounter reminds us that sometimes, the most profound connections start with the smallest gestures. It's not just about distributing books and dawah materials; it's about touching hearts and opening minds, one person at a time.
